Under the direction of the Senior Vice President for External Affairs, Northeastern will launch a new digital publication called Experience Magazine, designed to explore in depth the over-arching concept of experience and how it shapes people and societies. Examples of the types of articles to be featured in Experience Magazine could include:• How experience changes the way the brain is wired• Why are so many companies hiring Chief Experience Officers?• How professional sports teams are transforming the “fan experience”Although not explicitly focused on Northeastern people and events, Experience Magazine will help to solidify the university's position as the world leader in experiential education—learning based on the intentional integration of life experience and academic instruction. We believe this is an exciting thought leadership initiative and we are looking for the leader to bring it to life.Does this sound like you?As Editor-in-Chief, you will be a visionary and a builder, who can take the conceptual framework of Experience Magazine (in development since 2016) and animate it with a modern content creation and distribution strategy. Your ability to identify business, science, and cultural trends suitable for exploration in Experience Magazine will be critical to our success. You will be able to cultivate a strong network of freelance writers and editors (and ultimately recruit staff writers) to develop specific story ideas and directions.Do you enjoy collaboration and autonomy?You will work in collaboration with the Senior Vice President and other colleagues to sharpen the focus of Experience Magazine and make independent decisions about content strategy, focus, and frequency. Your deep expertise as a writer and editor, with a proven ability to convey complex ideas in digestible form, will be important and greatly valued.QualificationsMinimum requirements:• A bachelor's degree• 10 - 15 years of experience as a writer/editor• A love for learning and relentless curiosity• Proven ability to develop, assign, and edit high-quality, multiplatform storytelling• Baseline knowledge of business, science, and cultural issues and trends• Exceptional organizational, strategic, and writing and editing skills• Ability to be both flexible and exacting about ideas and their articulation• Firm grasp of digital media, social media, and content trends• Proven ability to supervise freelance and staff writers and website manager(s)• Demonstrated ability to maintain high standards for all content and deliver content that is engaging and editorially compelling• Experience nurturing and initiating creative thinkingPreferred background:• A degree in journalism or communications• Experience using Wordpress• A network of talented and reliable freelance writers/editorsAdditional InformationWhat stands us apart:• We offer a highly competitive benefits package, including tuition waivers for that master's degree or certificate you've been thinking about.• A selection of other current offerings includes medical, dental, and vision plans, generous retirement programs, discounts on technology products, health and fitness programs, ample paid time off, and professional development opportunities.http://apptrkr.com/1090897Jobelephant.com.
