REGISTERED NURSE/PART TIME (Burke County, NC) North Carolina Department of Public Safety CORRECTIONAL HEALTHCARE NOTE: Current NC Government employees are not eligible to apply for assignments through Temporary Solutions. Career Banded: Journey Level Hourly Rate of Pay: $7.25 - $28.15 (Based on competency assessment) Average 20 hours per work week This part-time temporary position will be assigned to the Department of Public Safety Prisons Mountain Regional Office/CRV Burke Camp. This position provides professional nursing care/treatment to patients in accordance with medical protocols. Work includes conducting needs assessments, developing, implementing, and evaluating treatment plans and providing patient care and education to participants in a confinement related setting for probation violators. This position requires sick call assessment, medication administration, phlebotomy sticks, transcribing MD/PA orders, patient education, thorough medical documentation monitoring/treatment of communicable diseases, and responding to emergencies. Individual may be required to work all shift, weekends, and 11 holidays with limited clinical supervision. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies •Knowledge of basic nursing principles and techniques to include physical assessments, clinical judgments, treatment, planning and evaluation, and emergency care •Ability to provide patient and family information according to Department Policies and Regulations and advise and/or consult staff as needed •Basic ability to implement nursing process •Ability to demonstrate a professional caring approach interacting with patients and families •Ability to provide disease management information and instructions •Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals including participants, family members, staff, faculty management and medical professionals Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
