About this job

- Requires the utilization of a seasoned knowledge of engineering principles and theories and their application. The incumbent pursues continuous process improvement as well as new automation projects, which require experience and judgment to deal with a variety of variables including integrating new and updating existing controls.

- Responsible for recommending and purchasing equipment and equipment upgrades designed to assist the plant/ departments with efforts to increase production, improve quality, and/or reduce costs through process, product, equipment, materials and/or methods development and improvement. Projects frequently involve interaction with other disciplines and occasionally with customers.

- Projects are typically significant assignments within the annual objectives and may involve new products or processes and/or expansion of capabilities. Considerable ingenuity would be expected. The incumbent may provide technical direction to less experienced technicians, line supervisors and operators.

- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electronic controls equipment, manufacturing equipment, communication equipment, and support systems. Perform technical evaluations of vendors, software, and equipment. Supervise technical service contractors as assigned during routine maintenance for the weight control system, defect detection system, barcode printing and scanning system, machine control system, and electronic drives. Update and manage spare parts inventory for controls equipment.

- The position requires active participation in the Reliability and Industrial Efficiency Pillars of WCM. The incumbent will participate in cross-functional groups to drive improvements in machine reliability and operational efficiency. The incumbent will also be a member of the WCM Steering Committee and will lead multiple WCM projects on a continual basis.
