Aerotek is hiring experienced Health and Safety professionals for traveling work around affected areas of Florida.

This position requires at least three years of health and safety work history in a construction or occupational health and safety environment. Any experience with FEMA directly is a strong plus.

The expectation will be that this person will inspect at least three buildings per day. Daily duties may include:

  • Work with FEMA Safety, Health and Medical Readiness (DHS) Disaster Safety Officer Cadre.
  • Advise Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO) on all
  • occupational safety and health concerns affecting and arising from the incident.
  • Anticipating, recognizing and controlling hazards in the workplace.
  • Developments, implements and reviews site specific occupational safety and health programs and provides all training requirements in accordance with 29 CFR 1904, 1910, 1926, 1960 requirements, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Directives and FEMA Directives, Manuals and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Coordinates all program development and implementation with SHMR.
  • Serves as the safety and health technical resource for all disaster related building acquisitions including responsible for identifying all building related safety and health deficiencies prior to acquisition.
  • Provides situational awareness to the Federal Coordinating Officer (FCO) and National Safety Cadre/Program Manager on any changes that could affect disaster-wide operations.
  • Attends scheduled briefings and meetings.
  • Establishes, chairs, and coordinates the Inter-agency Safety Committee.
  • Establishes and maintains positive interpersonal and inter-agency working relationships.
  • Coordinates hazard communication with the National Response Coordination Center (NRCC) Safety Coordinator to ensure all inter- and intra-agency partners review information on the identified hazards.
  • Reviews the Incident Action Plan (IAP) and recommends adjustments, as needed.
