Sr. UX/UI Designer

We are looking for a Senior UX/UI Designer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of technology. Responsibilities will include creation of the UI/UX design wireframes/visual design to be translated to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will help bridge the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

The Sr. UX/UI Designer role is within GWM Credit and Mortgage Lending Technology team and is based out of Jersey City, NJ. In this role, the Sr. UX / UI designer is responsible for helping to develop the look and feel of a specific computer interface within a pre-designed internal ecosystem. This allows the intended audience to navigate the functionality of that interface and produce a certain type of human-computer interaction. In this role, the UX/UI Designer will be part of a multi-disciplinary team of designers, developers, and executives committed to designing the future of Global Wealth Management. This role requires a good understanding of experience design for data-heavy products and services, and the ability to work with technical development team in shaping the product from end to end. The ideal candidate has a good understanding of the coding while developing the user experience designs for the tech team.

This Role Includes:

User research - Working with business partners to understand user needs and requirements, as well as conducting usability testing

Interaction design - Working primarily with navigation structures and interface functions. The individual spends the time doing user flows, testing and validation using scenarios, demos, and/or prototypes.

Information design - Dealing mainly with content specific to the site or product, as well as working up user assistance tools.

Visual design - This individual aids in the task of translating the designs using established style guides and patterns. Working with development team to make sure that core UX design standards are consistent with other related products. Work with established technical specifications to develop and deliver high quality functionality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and develop information architecture, wireframes, visual design, user flow diagrams, redlines, prototypes and other interactive designs
  • Designs must incorporate best practices and emerging trends as discovered through market research, competitive insights and user research
  • Subject matter expert in digital design, consumer digital, media consumption and trends
  • Act as a liaison with our customer experience and technology teams to ensure that our interactions remain consistent across applications
  • Create, maintain and implement an interaction and design pattern library and influence all levels of leadership to promote standards adherence governance
  • Partner with vendors as needed for wireframes and graphic designs to ensure consistency in assets and optimization in project deliverables
  • Keep up to date in field by monitoring consumer trends, attending workshops, joining professional groups and mentor others in the UX design methodologies
  • Promote importance of user-centered activities and is able to influence stakeholders to insure execution
  • Work closely with UI developers to develop the UI applications while liaising with backend services teams to ensure information is well represented
  • Understand information and data architecture on the backend systems to ensure information design meets the technology standards without compromising the user needs
  • Able to play multiple roles in the team in various capacities including but not limited to: developing UX designs, leading UI developers, conduct data analysis, effectively tracking UI deliverables etc.
  • Produce weekly status reports on the UI deliverables while identifying risks and issues with the UI components of the project

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in design, computer science, information sciences, psychology, or HCI preferred
  • 7+ years as a UX/UI designer in highly collaborative environments
  • A solid online portfolio with examples of user end to end experience designs
  • Experience with complex transactional business models
  • Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
  • Expert in MS office suite and design, wireframing, prototyping programs such as Axure, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Balsamiq, InVision, Principle, or similar
  • Creativity, problem-solving, passion and attention to detail
  • Effective communication of design solutions across roles & levels
  • Awareness and practical understanding of current technologies and their application and relevance to digital experiences
  • Proven understanding of responsive web & mobile application design and wireframe development
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative, team-oriented, cross-functional environment
  • Flexibility/adaptability (ability to change direction based upon team and stakeholder consensus)
  • Solid familiarity of systems and coding languages such as HTML5, CSS, XML, and/or JavaScript
  • Any knowledge of React, AngularJS, NodeJS, NPM, Java and/or Webpack is a plus
  • Financial experience is a plus
