About this job

This person will provide design support to the current product group with the engines group. They will be updating drawings of commercial engines, primarily twin cylinders. There are currently 9,000 master model assembly parts in NX that this person will be working with. They will be working with a variety of different materials such as: castings, die cast, sheet metal, plastics. Candidates will be processing warranty change, creating updates to current products and at times creating new variances to products which includes additions such as adding brackets to mount an engine.

Specific Responsibilities

1. Prepare conceptual layouts of new product proposals and proposed modifications of current products.
2. Design and develop components and simple subsystems of engine assemblies.
3. Create 3-D CAD models using Siemens NX CADsoftware.
4. Properly structure CAD models and maintain file organization per client CAD Best Practices.
5. Manage CAD Master Assembly of complete engine assembly per client CAD Standards.
6. Create part and assembly drawings from CAD models per client Engineering Standards and ASME Y14.5 - 2009 Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Standard. Perform basic tolerance analysis using the client Tolerance Stack-up Calculator where required.
7. Basic knowledge of core casting/molding processes and materials. i.e. - die casting, sand casting, plastic injection molding, etc.
8. Basic knowledge of core manufacturing processes. i.e. - machining, sheet metal stamping, assembly, jigs and fixtures.
9. Consult with other departments and/or suppliers to assure feasibility of manufacturing products or components.
10. Perform basic design calculations during project execution showing a proficient understanding of engine design concepts.
11. Analyze the details on new drawings and/or the effect of change(s) to details on existing drawings for form, fit, function and positional relationship of components and parts; review, check and archive all design calculations.
12. Assist manufacturing or other departments with interpretation of models and drawings where assistance is required.
13. Create and manage file conversions as required from CAD data to Parasolid, STEP,STL, DXF and PDF formats.
14. Responsible for file management storage of CAD data in one central location using PTC Windchill PDMLink software.
15. Examine drawings for accuracy per client Engineering Standards, feasibility of production, and fulfillment of the intent requested on the Engineering Change Notification (CN).
16. Review CN for completeness to assure it contains a thorough explanation as to why changes were made and instructions regarding the disposition of both production and service inventory.
17. Compile BOM information and service parts lists as required to complete an assignment.
18. Access part and engine assembly data as required in an ERP (preferably SAP) system.
19. Coordinate all CN activities involving more than one CAD Analyst to assure that the project is properly completed.
20. Make decisions and provide corrective actions and preventive measures regarding quality and timelines for engine projects and maintain proper documentation.
21. Work to develop individual goals/objectives to support the department goals through the use of the clients Career Management Process.
22. Personally demonstrate and drive Core Competencies.
