About this job

Will be responsible for controls engineering work on various precision machine tooling (Superfinishing and Honing Machinery), PLC programming (not from scratch but must have ability to make line changes when required), debugging, troubleshooting, start-ups, and AutoCAD electrical design of the control panels. Will include up to 70% travel and international travel will typically be 4 to 6 week trips. International travel will be about half the travel at least for first year of employment. Will work with customer specific PLCs (use some Allen-Bradley and some Siemens Step 7) start-ups, debugging, and troubleshooting during installations and start-ups of their end-of-arm tooling products (other machine tooling as well).

this is a long-term contract position, but if someone is currently working and only would consider if direct, they would hire someone direct immediately.

Work Environment: Non union plant with about 140 employees at the Ann Arbor location. 3 SW people in house and about 12 Controls employees in the group. 4 of the 12 in the Controls group are on contract. Hard working crew, everyone is responsible for pulling their own weight; core hours are 7:30-4:30, but they are flexible Qualifications: MUST HAVE:
- 3 plus years of Controls Engineering experience
- 3+ years of experience with Allen-Bradley and/or Siemens Step 7 (Candidates do not need to have the ability to program from scratch, they do need to be able to troubleshoot and debug issues as well as make modifications to a line or two as needed in the field)
-Must have experience with servo-motors or servo-drivers (candidates need to have an strong understanding of motion)
- Must be open to travel 60-70%+
- Must be willing to work 50+ hours per week (paid overtime).
