The Assistant Scientist (Temporary) position supports the Upstream Process Development Team in project work to develop and optimize biological production processes, either microbial or eukaryotic in nature, either for the purpose of protein expression or viral propagation. This is an entry level position, with the main focus to support and assist Upstream Process Development activities.
Key responsibilities:
* Participates as a member of a Process Development Team for the development and optimization of biological production processes
* Participates in bench-scale as well as pilot-scale experiments
* Follows protocols to perform laboratory functions
* Assists in the preparation of media, stock solutions and reagents used in process development experiments
* Contributes to routine laboratory maintenance
* Works closely in collaboration with other associated functional groups
Qualifications: Education, Experience and Skills:
* Assistant Scientist (Temp) position: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Biochemical Engineering or related discipline), 0-2 years experience
* Good understanding of aseptic and sterile techniques is required
* Basic fundamental knowledge of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells, coupled with a practical knowledge of process engineering and biopharmaceutical plant operations is a plus
* Hands-on experience in a laboratory is also a plus
* Excellent communication skills (oral/written and listening), with the ability to collaborate with colleagues in a cross-functional, fast paced team environment, is required
