About this job

Job Summary: Complete standardized cleaning process in patient rooms, offices, departments and other secondary areas, utilizing the seven-step cleaning process. Demonstrates on a consistent basis, the individual and team behaviors that embody the service excellence philosophy. Perform additional duties as assigned by Supervisor or Manager within the Support Services Department including but not limited to Patient Escort, Dietary, Linen and Security.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school graduate or GED preferred. In lieu of high school diploma or GED, a minimum of 12 months of job experience in a similar or related field may be considered. Basic reading comprehension skills required.

Knowledge/Skills: Must have the ability to operate standard cleaning equipment (Burnishers, Buffers, auto scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, wringer, and mops) remain calm in a fast-paced or hostile environment, and handle line multiple tasks with frequent interruptions. Requires the ability to communicate effectively and work well with all levels of patients, the public, and other health care workers. A basic knowledge of all relative codes (ie. DHEC, TJC, OSHA, EPA, AND LIFE SAFETY CODES) is required. . Professional and neat appearance is required to project a positive image of CareAlliance. Must maintain strict confidentiality of all work-related information.

Contacts: Constantly interacts with Support Staff and Nursing Staff. Have some interactions with patients, physicians, family members and management.

Work Demands/Environment:
Constant standing. Frequent walking, bending, stooping, stretching, climbing and balancing. Frequent lifting, moving or carrying, pushing or pulling of weight between 35-50 lbs. Climbing up to 8 feet and lifting up to 35 lb. is also required. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Intermittent stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Possible exposure to blood, body fluids or tissue. Possible exposure to infectious materials, communicable diseases, toxic substances, biohazardous materials and/or other conditions common to a healthcare environment. Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Constant exposure to wet or humid (non-weather) conditions. Intermittent exposure to risk of electrical shock. Moderate to loud noise level in work area. Requires hand-eye coordination. May be required to take call and/or work weekends/holidays based on the needs of the department.
