BASIC PURPOSE: The IT Endpoint Hardware Architect role is to plan, design, develop, and integrate the various endpoint technologies throughout the Love’s computing environment.  The successful individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize the endpoint landscape.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Work closely with hardware vendors to identify product roadmaps and develop a strategy for introducing new hardware into the Love’s computing environment.
  • Test new hardware to ensure compatibility with current Infrastructure and Applications
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing hardware
  • Develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems while simplifying the environment
  • Conduct research on hardware and software products to justify recommendations and purchases
  • Evaluate the hardware needs of various business units and recommend configuration changes to improve the user computing experience
  • Work with the business aligned IT teams to quickly produce Proof of Concept hardware that aligns with both the business and Infrastructure support goals
  • Partner with other Technology Services teams to evaluate problems and identify strategies for mitigation
  • Ensure that support teams are properly trained on new hardware as it is being introduced into the Love’s computing environment
  • Leverage existing hardware models where possible in order to reduce complexity and simplify support
  • Work with Technology Services decision makers to choose deployment tools for hardware
  • Document current hardware standards and maintain a roadmap for future hardware models
  • Update documentation with known compatibility issues to prevent problem deployments
  • Work through existing Change Control processes to effectively communicate changes and minimize risk
  • Assist other Technology Services team members in the testing of drivers, configurations, applications, etc. on new hardware as it is being introduced into the environment
  • Document and evaluate changes to existing technology environment
  • Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and users to understand business critical systems
  • Other duties assigned as needed

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science/Management of Information Systems or 4 years of endpoint administration
  • Experience:
    • 2 years of hands on experience managing endpoint hardware
    • Experience working critical issues that affect multiple users
  • Preferred Experience:
    • 2 years of experience in a retail endpoint administration position

 

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

Hard skills:  Knowledge of Dell, Microsoft and NCR hardware, Windows operating systems (Including Windows 7 and Windows 10), SCCM, VCM, FIOS, Mirage, network components and operability, virtual and physical servers, Microsoft Enterprise Applications (Active Directory, Exchange, etc.), Microsoft Office expertise, etc.

 

Soft Skills:  Excellent communication skills, analytical aptitude, business acumen, client focus, problem solving skills and technical initiative are required.  A successful candidate should have excellent team-oriented interpersonal skills and work in a team environment.  Competently understands customer requirements; easily troubleshoots and solves problems with minimal supervision and direction; capable of researching and making fact-based, data backed decisions; skilled at developing relationships outside of IT.

 

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping
  • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator
  • Requires normal range of hearing and vision
