Job Summary

Oversees FedEx Ground (FXG) preload quality, cost, and productivity performance while focusing on damage prevention initiatives, safety compliance, adherence to company policies and procedures, and collection of accurate information to enhance customer visibility.

Essential Functions

• Oversees the implementation and training of all preload policies, procedures and operational updates.
• Serves as a knowledge expert to educate station management on all proper preload policies, practices and procedures while ensuring that district objectives are met.
• Conducts training to the appropriate station personnel on preload engineering principles including preload management techniques.
• Reviews and analyzes preload metrics including trends on a daily, weekly, monthly basis; develops action plan if necessary and provides update to the appropriate personnel as needed.
• Verifies that preload certification is valid as required to ensure a smooth and safe preload operation; develops action plan if necessary.
• Conducts daily station follow-up to address all preload concerns on prior district results of quality, service, productivity or any operational updates; collaborates with the appropriate station personnel to develop action plan if necessary
• Collaborates with the appropriate station personnel and the vision team to discuss operation strategies; develops action plan if necessary.
• Conducts follow-up with the appropriate station personnel to ensure enforcement of and adherence to FXG safety policies, practices and procedures.
• Assists in the development of district dock budget.
• Participates in meetings with district staff including District Managing Director to address preload engineering updates and concerns along with any additional operation related measurements.
• Supports Quality Action Teams via Quality Driven Management process.
• Conducts Peak planning with the appropriate station personnel including developing proactive action plans to ensure smooth operation.
• Assists in station expansion and relocation.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics or related field required. In addition to minimum experience, high school or GED and four (4) years’ related experience is accepted in lieu of degree.

Minimum Experience

• Three (3) years’ experience required in dock management or dock operations support in small package industry; FedEx Ground Sort Manager or Engineering support experience preferred.

Required Skills, Abilities and / or Licensure

• Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications.
• Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with all levels of management.
• Presentation skills necessary to facilitate training and/or deliver informational sessions to groups and/or individuals.
• Time management and organizational skills necessary to manage multiple projects, appropriately prioritize workload, plan for resources to meet deadlines and goals, and respond to day-to-day functional needs.
• Ability to anticipate and identify problems and use sound judgment and fact-based analysis to develop effective and efficient solutions.
• Ability to inspire a shared vision and empower and motivate a team.
• Knowledge of concepts, practices, policies and procedures related to dock operations.
• Ability to build collaborative working relationships and to gain input and influence management.
• Ability to travel up to 75%.
