We're looking for a motivated, experienced Chef to come join the Zephyr Lodge team!

 

You will take two chair lift rides to this location.  Zephyr Lodge is located on the mountain at the top of the Tahoe Zephyr Express lift.  The newest on-mountain restaurant and bar, the Zephyr Lodge features an open floor plan, large timbers and a huge window wall offering spectacular views of the Pacific Crest.  Enjoy a variety of internationally-inspired menu options including noodle and rice bowls, upscale grill, gourmet pizza, specialty soups and a salad bar.  Open 8:30-4. As second in hierarchy, the Sous Chef has full control over the kitchen and is directly responsible for the food quality produced there under his or her supervision.  As Sous Chef, you will be overseeing quality at grill, prep, Asian, pizza, or expo stations, ensuring food is prepared to the Executive Chef's vision and expectations.  In our kitchen, some cooks rotate stations each shift, while some remain at the same station until they have mastered that skill and are interested in learning another.  The Sous Chef will be required to develop teammates, cultivate passion, and possess an eye for detail.   You'll play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction and restaurant goals by sharing your expertise and helping guide entry- and intermediate-level cooks to execute the menu.

 

  • Communicates with General Manager and Executive Chef to ensure proper management of staff and projects.
  • Assists Chef to motivate, evaluate, and direct staff to ensure adequate guidance and resources to accomplish established goals and objectives. 
  • Ensures that all employees receive training, support, guidance, feedback, and resources necessary for success.
  • Responsible for providing excellent guest experiences.
  • In absence of the Executive Chef, ability to delegate responsibility, motivate and lead direct reports to achieve goals and objectives.
  • Familiarity with state and federal environmental standards and OSHA regulations.
  • Understanding of corporate and resort specific policies and procedures.
  • Performs job performance evaluation by observing employees’ daily job performance.
  • Assists in providing quality to guests by directing staff in meeting quality standards and food handling and preparation, safety and sanitation.
  • Contribute to team effort by participating in Job Sharing, assuming responsibility for the cleanliness of the resort and safety of guests and employees; participating in safety meetings; accepting diverse assignments; maintain a positive and friendly attitude and demeanor in all internal and external interactions.
  • Meet service level objectives and department goals as set forth by immediate supervisors.
  • Prepares food for guests by following proper cooking procedures. 
  • Plating and presentation of menu items.
  • Follows all Health Dept required food handling procedures.  Keeps a clean, well maintained, sanitary work environment.
  • Expediting duties include filling customer orders, garnishing, and handing meals to customers.
  • Keeps equipment operational by following manufacturers’ instructions and established procedures.
  • Maintain a full and fresh food line by notifying teammates of shortages and replenishing food at workstation.
  • Provides information to customers by answering food preparation questions and resolving special requests.
  • Protects customers and employees by adhering to all sanitation policies and procedures and maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
  • Communicate proactively with supervisors and fellow staff members, and provide input regarding kitchen operations and elevated guest experience.
