Job Description

Responsible for all aspects and functions of Noe bar, in accordance with Hotel standards. Maintain a service philosophy which serves as a guide to respective staff. Take orders, prepare drinks and courteously and efficiently serve alcoholic, non-alcoholic beverages and light meals to guests, according to hotel specifications. Maintain stock/supplies and cleanliness of Noe Bar, Lounge and equipment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

* Maintain complete knowledge of:

* All liquor brands, beers and non-alcoholic selections available.

* The particular characteristics and description of every wine/champagne by the glass and major wines on the wine list.

* Designated glassware and garnishes for drinks.

* All bar menu items, preparation method/time, ingredients, sauces, portion sizes, garnishes, presentation and prices.

* Bar layouts, station numbers, room capacity, and hours of operation, price range and dress code.

* O.S. and manual system procedures.

* Complete opening side duties:

* Check quality and amount of all bar stock and supplies by using checklist.

* Complete opening inventory sheet.

* Requisition all necessary supplies.

* Transport supplies from storeroom to bar.

* Stock ice in bar.

* Set up bottles in display cabinet and speed rail.

* Prepare garnishes.

* Stock glassware and paper supplies.

* Set up ashtrays with matches.

* Prepare mixes.

* Check condition and cleanliness of blender, shaker and other tools.

* Check temperature of refrigeration units and glass wash machine.

* Change date on credit card imprinter at opening shift.

* Prepare bowls of bar snacks; place on bar and tables.

* Maintain complete knowledge and strictly abide by state liquor regulations, particularly those prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.

* Check storage areas for proper supplies, organization and cleanliness.

* Ensure that each liquor bottle ordered is backed up by an exchange of an empty bottle of same liquor.

* Inspect quality and amounts of garnishes, ensuring agreement to departmental standards.

* Inspect all aspects of the Noe bar environment ensuring compliance with standards of cleanliness and order. Correct deficiencies as needed.

* Ensure that work and side duties are completed in accordance with departmental procedures.

* Attend pre-shift meeting with all Noe staff and Noe GM to review all information pertinent to the day's business.

* Inspect, plan and ensure that all materials and equipment are in complete readiness for service; correct deficiencies as needed.

* Ensure that specified amount of menus and wine lists are available and in good condition.

* Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day. Promote positive guest relations at all times.

* Monitor and handle guest complaints by following the Power of One and ensuring guest satisfaction.

* Monitor and handle problems with intoxicated guests and/or altercations.

* Monitor guest reactions to ensure guest satisfaction.

* Check the status of all orders and ensure that they are prepared and delivered within designated timeliness in accordance with departmental standards.

* Monitor and maintain cleanliness and working condition of departmental equipment, supplies and work areas.

* Ensure optimum service to guests at all times.

* Answer phone within 3 rings, using correct salutations and telephone etiquette.

* Access all functions of the P.O.S. system in accordance to specifications. Restock journal tape and change ribbons as needed.

* Handle void checks in accordance with Finance Department procedures.

* All cashiering procedures are to be processed in compliance with Finance Department standards.

* Issue manual checks when the system is down and ensure accountability of such.

* Ensure all closing duties are completed before signing out.

* Provide feedback to staff on their performance.

* Foster and promote a cooperative working climate, maximizing productivity and employee morale.

* Contact Ideal Services for maintenance repairs to be submitted to Synergy for Engineering. Contact Engineering directly for urgent repairs.

* Complete all paperwork and closing duties in accordance with departmental standards.

* Complete closing side duties:

* Properly store all reusable goods.

* Empty and drain ice bin.

* Scrub sink.

* Remove all items from bartop and tables; place clean items in designated areas; wipe clean all surfaces of bartop and tables.

* Remove liquor and bottles from speed rail and liquor cabinet.

* Secure all liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets and storage areas.

* Wipe down all bottles and surfaces.

* Clean all bar equipment and tools.

* Remove trash.

* Sweep and mop floor behind bar.

Ensure that the bar is secure when not open for business

Qualifications

* Bartender vocational training.

* Minimum 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages.

* 3 years experience as a Bartender, preferably a 4-Diamond Hotel or upscale bar.

* Knowledge of various drink recipes and beverage service standards.

* Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.

* Ability to provide legible communication.

* Ability to compute basic mathematical calculations.

* Familiarity with food/beverage and labor cost controls.

* Valid CA Food Handler's Card.

* Valid TIPS Card.

* Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments.

* Ability to motivate Noe bar staff and be a part of a cohesive team.

* Ability to be a clear thinker, analyze and exercise good judgment to resolve problems.

* Ability to focus attention on details.

* Ability to suggestively sell menu items, beverages and wines.

* Ability to input and access information into P.O.S. system.

* Ability to exert physical effort in transporting equipment and wares.

* Ability to endure copious physical movements in carrying out job duties.

* Ability to interact positively with intoxicated and/or problem guests.

* Ability to ensure security and confidentiality of guest and Hotel information.

* Ability to work without direct supervision.

* Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration and think clearly when preparing drinks and providing service to any given number of guests within any given period of time.

* Ability to work well under pressure with large groups and/or demanding guests

* Ability to maintain good coordination while quickly preparing and serving orders.
