Electronic Technician

Starting Wage - $21.77

Performs operations in preparation, combination, connection and fabrication of components and sub-assemblies into telemetry and other assemblies including printed circuit boards, in special area(s) with potential usage of general plant equipment. Performs tests, trimming, troubleshooting, component selection and rework to assure completion of assemblies. On electrical and electronic assemblies including micro-miniature versions, will be performing bonding, potting, impregnation, including oven operations and application of finishing touches necessary to complete the assembly. Uses all tools, techniques and equipment as well as gages and testers necessary to the performance of the task including IC lead bending machines, surface mount technology, flat pack reflow soldering, and vapor phase reflow soldering. Works from assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, engineering change documents, sketches and other written, visual and oral instructions. Interprets test equipment readings, indications and results to determine degree of conformance to specifications. Performs evaluations on out-of-tolerance conditions and is required to perform disassembly operations on the product for the purpose of troubleshooting diagnosis and is required to perform reassembly and test operations to the degree necessary to assure correction of the malfunction. Will be responsible for complying with applicable provisions of Article 19. Health, Safety, and Environment of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Basic Candidate Qualifications:

* US Citizenship in order to obtain and maintain U.S. Depart of Energy "Q" level security clearance.

* High School diploma or GED.

* 2 years of formal training and practical experience equivalent to technical knowledge obtained in military electrical / electronic training courses or through a two year technical degree college or equivalent.

Additional Candidate Qualifications:

* Demonstrated abilities in working from assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, visual and oral instructions where interpretation and interaction with engineering personnel support product build specifications.

* J-STD 001; 610; 620. Solder certifications as applicable to bench technical work or equivalent.

* 3+ years experience in preparation and fabrication of electronic components including printed circuit boards and wiring assemblies.

Must be a US Citizen due to contractual requirements.NonexemptFive-Year PlanINCLUDES
