Director of Community Connections - Part-time

Walnut Street UMC is looking for a dynamic Christian that seeks to improve the quality of life for many in our community and world.  We wish to find creative ways to make connections with members of our community.  Location: Chillicothe , OH Job Description: The Director of Community Connections is responsible to develop and implement a strategy to reach the unchurched in our community.  The director brings passion, knowledge and experience in reaching people with the Gospel.  They should possess a passion for the unchurched and creativity in fostering new relationships. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:          Nurture the Christian life by regular attention to spiritual disciplines.         Develop and implement church wide strategy to make new connections with members of our community that do not have a church home         Research the demographics of our community to identify the community that we seek to reach         Identify weaknesses or resistance within our current approaches to reaching new people.          Test plausible approaches to reaching and develop learning opportunities for the congregation to apply the most effective methods         Recruit, train and equip members of the community         Collaborate with staff, volunteers and ministry leaders in a professional manner on communication needs         Interact with the Business Manager in areas of budget and finance         Attend staff meetings, prepared to report on ministry activities. Skills and Abilities Required:          Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to collaborate and work effectively with people inside and outside the congregation         Ability to manage conflict and reach peaceful resolutions         Must possess the ability to exercise judgment and discretion with sensitive matters and the application and interpretation of church policies         Must possess the ability to design, plan, experiment  and implement strategies that help the congregation to reach new people         Must possess the ability to equip congregants in making connections with new people.         Must serve as a positive Christian role model         Ability to operate a computer with experience with Microsoft Office, email, social media and similar functionsChillicothe Gazette.
