Our Visalia Marriott at the Convention Center is currently seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Chief Engineer to maintain the property up to brand standards and owner expectations. SUMMARY: To supervise the maintenance operations and physical condition of the hotel to ensure highest standards of guest satisfaction with in allotted budget.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

* Supervises, develops and maintains an ongoing maintenance operation for hotel, including refrigeration, heating, plumbing, water treatment, preventive maintenance, hotel rooms, air/heating units, ice machines, swimming pools, lighting, kitchen equipment, emergency generators, water softeners, switch rooms, roof exhausts, electrical substations, etc.

* Preventative maintenance of all guest rooms.

* Guest Service Recovery of in-house guest maintenance repairs. This is an extremely important part of this position, as we want to make sure all issues reported by in-house guests are fixed immediately. (Sink leaks and clogs, clogged toilets, AC units, light bulbs, TV, electrical, phone, wireless, appliances etc).

* Responsible for the safety and upkeep of the hotel and exterior grounds.

* Upkeep of kitchen and its appliances.

* On an ongoing and regular basis, inspects and evaluates physical condition of entire hotel, including all guestrooms, public areas, pool area; completes and retains inspection reports on a regular and timely basis.

* Works closely with other departments (i.e., Front Office and Housekeeping Departments) on maintenance and repairs issues.

* Orders materials and completes work assignments in a timely manner.

* Performs work within departmental budget.

* Monitors electric, gas, oil and water consumption on a prescribed basis.

* Maintains hotel by performing painting, plumbing, electrical wiring, and other related maintenance activities.

* Practice safety standards at all times.

* Conducts quarterly fire evacuation practice.

* Supervises and motivates maintenance staff including hiring, coaching, counseling, evaluating and training.

Job Requirement

High school diploma plus trade school or college. Requires advanced knowledge of building management/engineering. Five or more years of related experience. Familiarity with the hospitality industry practices preferred.

Should have sufficient computer skills that will allow the individual to be able to use, in a proficient manner, certain Company-issued software programs such as Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel for purposes of communication, ordering supplies, and overall management of the engineering department.

Working Conditions & Physical Effort:

Work is performed inside and outside the hotel. While performing job duties, the associate speaks, listens, completes documents, processes requests and operates office equipment such as a telephone, calculator, computer, copier and fax. Physical requirements include extended periods of standing and/or walking, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. The work involves some exposure to extreme temperatures, chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The exposure to hazards or physical risks requires following basic safety precautions and use of applicable protective equipment. The job requires close vision with or without corrective lenses.
