Essential Job Functions:

  • Customer/Guest Focus: be the guest's agent, providing information or giving appropriate attention to their needs; describe and model Vail's guest service guidelines; match guest needs to instructor qualities: privates and classes, etc.
  • Business Focus: maintain a high standard of quality for products and facilities; manage instructors scheduling, class assignment and performance expectations; monitor instructor pay system; etc.
  • Employee Focus: communicate and model the importance of safety and "Smart Sliding" Initiatives; manage instructor training; complete instructor performance appraisals; inform instructors of professional organizations & certification processes, etc.
  • Communication Focus: create a climate that is fun and rewarding to work in; role model and train instructors to treat internal support group with same caring and respect they show guests; access corporate resources as needed, communicate effectively up and down within own organization, etc.
  • Personal Focus: remain current with certification and membership of professional organizations; attend educational opportunities for professional growth; take ownership of self-improvement, etc.
  • Job Specific: oversee snowboard programs within the children's school - POD specific location; interview & coordinate the hiring of snowboard instructors; oversee the Eagle Valley Learn to Ski/Ride program and SOS program; coordinate daily operations for snowboard programs, help in all other programs within the children's school when needed, etc.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School diploma; fluent in reading, writing and communication in English; Spanish is helpful. 
  • Have current professional instructor certification.  Strongly recommended PSIA/AASI Level 2 or equivalent from another country.
  • Minimum of 3 years as full time instructor for a recognized ski and snowboard school.  Highly recommended: instructor trainer, supervisor assistant or program coordinator in appropriate program, or similar experience.
