Program Coordinator Sr. - Cronkite Global Arizona State University Journalism & Mass Communication Campus: Downtown Phoenix Requisition Id# 36369BR Salary Range: Depends on experience Close Date: 13-October-2017 Job Description: The Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University seeks a Program Coordinator Sr. to work with international journalists and scholars in Cronkite Global Initiatives' programs. The Program Coordinator Sr. will be responsible for leading and managing the daily operations of the prestigious Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, which brings mid-career journalists and communications specialists from around the world to the Downtown Phoenix campus for a year of academic studies and leadership training. The Cronkite School is the only journalism school in the country to host the U.S. State Department Fulbright-affiliated program. The successful applicant will be highly organized, flexible, able to thrive in a fast-paced and fluid environment, have an interest in and knowledge of international affairs and be sensitive to, and tolerant of, cultural differences. Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9am-6pm to include occasional evenings weekends and overnight trips. Essential Duties: •The Program Coordinator Sr. guides individual fellows as they adapt to the U.S. educational and professional environment, builds an atmosphere of collaboration and learning within the team and fosters a lasting leadership network among fellows. The Program Coordinator Sr. manages operations, from securing housing and health services and arranging travel to planning an orientation week, leading community meetings, activities and retreats, and producing written reports on program activities. The Program Coordinator Sr. also manages relationships with external grant partners and government officials. •The Program Coordinator Sr. occasionally assists with other Cronkite Global Initiatives' programs, such as the Edward R. Murrow Program for Journalists, coordinates visits of other international guests, and assists with other global partnerships and exchanges. •The position reports to the Curator of the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship, who serves as the Cronkite School's Assistant Dean for Research and International Programs. •Driving fellows to and from events and activities required. •Occasional evenings, weekends and overnight trips are required. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND four years administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND two years administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Eight years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinate program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved. Desired Qualifications: •Experience in successfully managing projects •Experience managing people in a multicultural environment •Experience with international educational programs or government grant-funded programs •Experience and/or familiarity in the fields of journalism or communications •Evidence of effective verbal and written communication skills •Experience with, and full command of, Microsoft Office applications including, Word, Excel and Outlook, and other programs such as Google Docs and Drop box Working Environment: Activities are usually performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse.
