SUMMARY: The liquor steward is responsible for insuring that all products for bars are readily available and informing supervisors of any shortages so ordering may be done effectively.

The liquor steward must be friendly and work well with others. They must have high self esteem and be in good physical condition.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Inventories all bars, deli, and gun rooms for dry goods and liquor. Changes and removes empty soda boxes. Picks up requisition forms from service bar and removes empties. Informs on the receiving of items needed on ramp. Restock all perishables. Inventory logo cups and bottled water and inform supervisor of results. Distribute liquor to bars, service bar, gun room. Break out bartenders as required. Sweep and mop liquor room, soda room, gun room. Maintain all required paperwork. Carry out any supervisor request.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES/JOB DIMENSIONS:

Work additional hours on short notice as requested by a manager or supervisor, in order to accommodate staffing emergencies, employee absences, fluctuations in business levels, special projects, training programs etc.

Perform any and all related job duties at the request of manager or supervisor.

Regular attendance and uniform appearance in conformance with the standards which may be established by Horseshoe from time to time is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employee with irregular attendance or poor grooming habits or failure to maintain proper uniform will be subject to Horseshoe disciplinary action procedures up to and including suspension and termination of employment. Uniform and grooming standards set forth by Food and Beverage may differ from usual standards set forth by Horseshoe Entertainment due to the unique needs of Food and Beverage to maintain certain professional standards of health, cleanliness and sanitation.

Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality/entertainment industry, Employee may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the property. No one is guaranteed the same day off every week or the same schedule from week to week. Posted schedules are subject to change with or without notice in order to accommodate business.

Upon employment, all Employee are required to fully comply with Horseshoe policies and procedures for the safe and efficient operation of Company facilities. Employee who violate Company policies and procedures are subject to disciplinary action up to and including suspension termination of employment.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED);

Related job experience preferred or bartender or inventory experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or Employee.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Basic math skills necessary to understand requisition amounts and portion sizes. Math skills required to properly use Micros.

Ability to occasionally use the telephone for business related purposes.

Have a fluent ability to write and spell, read and speak the English language to carry out usual work functions.

Ability to maintain composure even during rush periods or periods of severe pressure.

Ability to smile at all times and conduct yourself professionally.

Follow all local, and state liquor laws applicable to our operation.

Ability to operate equipment such as juice machines, milk machines, chafing dishes, commercial coffee machines, lemon wedges, commercial tea machines, microwave ovens, cappuccino machines, beer dispensers and others.

Must be able to obtain:

Louisiana Racing License

Bossier Parish Alcohol Beverage Ordinance card (ABO)

Louisiana Responsible Vendors Card (LACT)
