About this job

The Communications Coordinator is responsible for supporting the creation of integrated internal and external communications deliverables including marketing materials, web and intranet content, social media posts and other written materials.
  • Principal Functional Responsibilities: Gathering information from internal stakeholders, communications director, and business partners, writes content, manages the approval process, coordinates with design and production
  • Ensuring all deliverables follow branding standards and communications strategies and plans established by communication director and CEO
  • Developing and writing copy for presentations,Internet and Intranet sites, social media and other written materials
  • Obtaining feedback from key stakeholders, coordinates the approval process
  • Developing presentations and ensuring graphics properly support content
  • Tracking jobs and providing status updates
  • Ensuring projects and communications are delivered on time and meet quality standards
  • Coordinating planning and reporting activity as required
  • Serving as primary point of contact for inquiries regarding communication initiatives
  • Taking responsibility for elements of communication delivery
  • Publishing / editing items on Whelan’s intranet and external websites
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-3 years of experience in a communications, writing, public relations, social media content role
  • Microsoft Office experience, including PowerPoint and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Writing and storytelling skills
  • Strong knowledge of grammar, Associated Press style and proper sentence structure
  • Organizational skills
  • Social media third-party posting experience
  • Basic public presentation skills
  • Ability to work within teams
  • Basic knowledge of media relations and public relations
Education

Successful candidates must meet the following requirements:
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • At least 21 years of age or older as required by applicable law or contractual requirements
  • Demonstrate a stable work history
  • Pass an extensive background screening which includes, but is not limited to, criminal background checks (local, state and federal), drug test, aptitude tests, skills assessment, interviews, and personality profile (behavioral assessment)
