About this job

Perform truck repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, run diagnostics on vehicles and work closely with other team members to meet company goals. Supervises and coordinates activities of mechanics engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment.  

 

Performs and supervise the work of minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers performed by mechanics and follows up on progress providing assistance when necessary.
Enforces regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes.
Collaborate with repair team to diagnose problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks.
Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles, filing paperwork with trailer maintenance as necessary with enough information to follow-up accordingly.
Tend to and follow up on road service calls.
Participates in the coordination of training and development of operators.
Maintain an inventory of oil used and ensure the proper storage of the oil.
Maintain effective communication with safety manager and support in all kinds of operations, tracking permits and documentation to acquire the best safety procedures results.
Design and follow up of accident prevention programs.
Ensures a safe and efficient work environment at the shop.
Reviews Repair Orders for accuracy and completeness.

Troubleshoots, tests, cleans and adjusts parts or assemblies, use
various instruments to make sure they are working properly.
Inspects vehicles for road readiness.
Responsible for floor level operations of the shop.
Accounts for all employees time performing repair jobs.
Assists with employee scheduling, productivity reviews and daily operation of the shop.
Ensures OSHA compliance
Assists with managing trade equipment and new equipment in service.
Responsible for equipment inventory at off-site vendor and shop locations.
Performs daily fleet inspections.
Meets with staff to ensure consistency with company policy and procedures and other issue resolutions.

 

Maintain parts inventory and ensures cleanliness in the shop.
Organization and updating blogs on needed oil changes on every tractor including detailed information such as date, number of tractors and next oil change date.

2+ years’ experience as a Diesel Mechanic
Valid CDL license ideal
Excellent reading and writing skills
Ability to pass a background check and drug test
ASE Diesel Certification an asset
Knowledge of C-TPAT procedures and regulations to be followed as required by the certification program.
Knowledge of DOT regulations, OSHA and HAZMAT
Microsoft Office
