About this job

This position will report to the Associate General Counsel, Labor and Employment Law. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling labor and employment-related litigation and counseling for a wide range of businesses.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provides labor and employment-related legal advice and counsel to the Company's Human Resources professionals and business clients. This responsibility includes, but is not limited to, legal research and oral and written advice on a broad range of employment and labor law issues, e.g., terminations and discipline, reorganizations, reductions in force, leaves of absence and reasonable accommodations, wage and hour considerations, compensation plans, harassment and discrimination investigations and outcomes.
  • Directly manages and works with outside counsel in handling and determining strategy for a high volume of litigation and agency matters.
  • Reviews and drafts corporate personnel policies, manuals and employee communications.
  • Identifies and develops appropriate compliance strategies to ensure company-wide compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws.
  • Drafts settlement and separation agreements.
  • Investigates and responds to attorney demand letters.
  • Reviews vendor agreements for co-employment issues.
  • Interprets collective bargaining agreements; provides labor law advise and counsel.
  • Conducts due diligence reviews for acquisitions/divestitures and negotiates/drafts employment-related provisions.
  • Prepares and presents training to business and HR clients.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Occasional travel required.
  • Five to ten years employment practice experience in a large law firm, Fortune 500 company or a combination of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited law school to practice in at least one jurisdiction.
  • Strong practice experience in Title VII, ADA, ADEA/OWBPA, FLSA, WARN, FMLA, paid sick leave, traditional labor and wrongful termination matters.
  • Litigation experience, including motion practice, trials and arbitrations.
  • Employment-related transactional experience, including drafting employment agreements, separation agreements, performance improvement plans and policies.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
