Summary

Customer Development Manager

The Customer Development Manager (CDM) is responsible for selling and maintaining our clients’ portfolio at an assigned customer. The CDM will utilize their knowledge and expertise of the assigned customer, and work with Business Development Managers and our clients to develop a strategic growth plan for our brands at the customer.

Responsibilities
  • Meet with Buyers and Category Managers, utilizing sales techniques to effectively deliver our sales plans.
  • Drive to customer’s headquarters an average of 2-3 days per work week to attend sales meetings.
  • Work in tandem with Business Development Managers to create best-in-class strategic plans.
  • Sell in new items for our clients while maintaining distribution of existing items.
  • Use knowledge of customer objectives, priorities, and customer base to advise and guide our Business Managers and clients. Sell participation in customer programs internally to our Business Managers and clients.
  • Maximize our clients’ sales while maintaining established trade guidelines.
  • Communicate and interact with other key representatives within the customer to address issues and opportunities, including Supply Chain, Space Management, Marketing, Finance, and Retail Operations.
  • Operate within the designated budget.
  • Communicate customer updates and changes within our organization and to our clients.
  • Communicate with our retail teams to ensure execution of our plans.
  • Use sales data from syndicated resources and customer databases to deliver on our objectives.
  • Work with administrative resources to complete forms, contracts, customer templates, etc.
  • Use customer proprietary systems and other available technology to deliver information to customers.
  • Coordinate category reviews and resets with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Use computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word to build and maintain spreadsheets, presentations, communications, etc.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1-3 years of sales experience, preferably in the retail or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry.
  • Additional experience in space management, sales administration, marketing, or finance preferred.
  • Advanced use of Microsoft software preferred: PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Must have strong presentation and communication skills. Must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance
