Position Summary

The Accounting Generalist performs day to day accounting activities, reporting and issue resolution between operations and the shared service operations. The position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing financial reports and transactions as appropriate. This position ensures that operations are in compliance with all internal control procedures. Additional responsibilities include preparing reports, human resource activities, resolving credit card charge backs, accounts receivables billing, and accounting as defined in the procedures.  

Job Specific 90% Daily: • Publish daily revenues into company financial reporting system (IHR1NG)• Sort and file Front Desk and F&B Audit Paperwork • Sort and file POS tickets • Sort and file Banquet Tickets • Obtain management signatures on audit reports• Provide various backup for credit card disputes to FSC • Scan third party info • Code items posted to miscellaneous transaction codes

• Bill Accounts Receivables to companies

• Upkeep PMS/eDaily Reconciliation Report• Upkeep Tax Exempt ReportWeekly: • Submit weekly Accounts Receivable Recap to managers

• Balance PMS/eDaily Reconciliation Report and forward to managers• Balance Tax Exempt Report and forward to managers • Review Human Resource material for distribution to hotel staff  

Monthly: • Collect and scan tax exemption forms and submit to corporate office with End of the Month Reports• Submit PMS/eDaily Reconciliation Report to corporate office with End of the Month Reports• Assists in the performance of monthly, quarterly personnel records for birthdays, work anniversaries, and sick and vacation balances• Assists in the preparation and distribution of reports generated by the department • Spot check personnel files• Assists in month end close, including researching unknown revenues and preparing journal entries • Obtains data and information necessary to assist in responding to inquiries • Maintain Night Audit Packs for storage• Perform ad hoc accounting activities in support of operations and General Manager• Establishes and maintains files and distribute information, mail to shared services • Obtains data and information necessary to assist in responding to inquiries • Assist in the completion of special projects as assigned by the General Manager• Assist with audits when scheduled • Regular attendance in conformance with standards • May be required to work varying schedules to reflect business needs of the hotel• Required to attend all training sessions and meetings • Ability to perform “Physical Requirements” and “Mental Effort Requirements” as explained below. General 10% • Promotes and applies teamwork skills at all times • Notifies appropriate individual promptly and fully of problems and/or unusual matters of significance • Is polite, friendly, and helpful to guests, management and fellow employees • Executes emergency procedures in accordance with Interstate Hotels & Resorts standards • Complies with required safety regulations and procedures • Attends appropriate hotel meetings and training sessions • Maintains cleanliness and excellent condition of equipment and work area • Complies with Interstate Hotels & Resorts standards, policies and rules • Recycles whenever possible • Remains current with Interstate Hotels & Resorts information and changes • Complies with Interstate Hotels &  Resorts uniform and grooming guidelines

Required Skills and Experience

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation: Required: • High School Diploma or Equivalent • Three + years of experience in hotel Front Desk and/or night auditor duties• Excellent communication skills • Ability to work in a team oriented environment • Ability to work independently in a time sensitive environment • Ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory • Ability to communicate clearly, timely, and accurately • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships • Ability to operate basic office equipment • Proficient in  OPERA, Windows,  and Excel software applications• Effective organizational and communication skills • Ability to work flexible schedule to include weekends and holidays
