Position Summary:

Assists physicians,nurses and other hospital personnel in caring for diagnosing, and treatingpatients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities by applyingtherapeutic, preventive, and diagnostic procedures.

Requirements:

Active license to practice Respiratory Care throughthe Board of Respiratory Care (KBRC) required; CRT credentialed from theNational Board of Respiratory Care.

PhysicalRequirements and Environmental Conditions:

Mustbe able to lift, push, or pull 50 lbs., sit, walk, stand extensively and beable to perform fine and gross motor skills. Physical coordination, mobility,verbal articulation, vision, and learning must be easily performed. May beexposed to blood, body tissue and fluids regularly, as well as other hazardouswaste materials. Must be able to tolerate environmental temperaturefluctuations. May be exposed to radiation, toxins, dust, cytotoxins, and/orpoisonous substances. May be exposed, periodically to physical injury, burns,noise, and some electrical hazards.

Working Relationships:

The Respiratory Therapist isresponsible to the Respiratory Care Supervisor and does not supervise any otheremployee. They are in daily contact with patients, families, physicians,nurses, and other employees.

Language:

Adequate conversational English is required inorder that the individual be able to take direction from management, understandhow to complete job tasks, communicate adequately with patients and co-workersas necessary, understand and follow safety guidelines, and understand theAssociate Handbook and all hospital policies.
