Position Purpose
The Sr. Digital Communications Specialist is a member of the Global IT Communications team and provides digital subject-matter expertise to help ensure employees and other stakeholder receive information within an a highly effective, push-pull ecosystem. This position has responsibility for developing, implementing, maintaining, evaluating and recommending strategies for optimizing digital communication platforms to support Global IT goals and strategic priorities, primarily focused on internal sites. Is the lead innovator for the team and ensures all members are up-to-date about the latest communications technology.
Principal Accountabilities
70% Digital Communication Planning & Execution
* Responsible for overall digital channel ownership (website, town halls, news updates, leadership briefings, podcasts, etc.); updating, supporting, maintaining, life-cycling and pulling analytics to understand the health of these communications vehicles (provides data to project manager who develops the reports).
* Is the technology steward for the Global IT communications team, working to understand the newest technology trends in communication and how they may be applied to the function.
* Connected to Cargill Digital Labs; works closely with this team to incubate, grow and deliver new communications technology in support of the overall Global IT strategic direction and marketing strategy.
* Sets up and provides technology and vehicle usage/governance to ensure tools aren't compromised, vehicles are in service to a strategy, and there is consistency across all communications channels (mainly website).
* Continues on-site technology support for critical events including town halls and leadership briefings; works with regional communications lead to ensure support is happening in-region as well.
* Responsible for vendor/partner relationships related to vehicle technology.
20% Communications Content Development
* Participates in the multi-year and annual strategic communications planning that helps advance the overall function strategic direction and moves the function closer towards its purpose.
* Under the direction of Communications Lead, participates in the development and execution of communications campaigns for key priorities related to the strategic direction. Includes everything from stakeholder identification to materials development to measurement against key performance indicators.
* Helps build a high-performing communications team by modeling desired behaviors.
* Contains and resolves issues that do not require project sponsor involvement; escalates risks and issues as appropriate.
10% Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in Communications, PR or related field
* Ability to operate on both a strategic level but also implement with excellence
* 4 or more years of experience in a communications position at medium to large companies, preferably global
* Website maintenance experience
* Proven ability to influence at all levels within an organization
* Demonstrated drive for measurable outcomes and results
* Experience in supporting digital vehicles and driving change in this space
* Has a strong track record of easily prioritizing multiple work streams, operating at the required level and with the right amount of detail to deliver what's expected on time
* Shown to have a history of identifying and seizing opportunities; proactively provides solutions and approaches to potential issues
* Solid understanding of the new communications content approaches and vehicles
* Deep knowledge of the technical side of communications including website development, how to implement tools like Exact Target, etc.
* Solid knowledge of other communications tools and support, including Skype, WebEx, SharePoint, AV systems, etc.
* Successful track record in project management; understands and can integrate into certified project management methodology
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree in communications, journalism, PR or equivalent experience
* Prior experience working in an agency environment
* Experience working in a complex, global environment
* Prior experience in enterprise communications
* Prior experience in corporate communications
