Job Title: Senior Principal engineer
Job Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Senior Director, provides senior leadership for quality assurance (QA) activities within a specified sub-section of the IT organization. Works with IT teams to set direction for and manage activities around quality assurance initiatives. Defines and develops strategic quality plans for the designated organizations, acting as primary manager of the relationship between the organization and the QA initiatives and function.
Major Job duties and responsibilities.
Provides strategic leadership and relationship management of Quality Assurance plans and roadmaps for a designated IT organization, including periodic or ad hoc reviews of QA plans and results for that organization and for IT in general.
Identifies initiatives which will improve the quality within the IT organization, and secures stakeholder support for these initiatives.
Develops and utilizes an intense understanding of the targeted IT organizations, and uses this understanding to help drive initiatives on behalf of the organization and on behalf of the QA function.
Interfaces to executive leaders within IT to establish and perform reviews of quality performance, both within the respective organization and within the QA organization.
Identifies and establishes key Quality metrics, both within the QA organization and across IT. Secures stakeholder buy-in for chosen metrics, and provides effective communication of the metrics and their importance to IT.
Works with senior executives to communicate metrics, and to establish plans to bring business performance back in-line with metric objectives.
Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
Knows, understands, and follows company policy.
Performs other duties as requested by the Senior Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Skills/Abilities and Knowledge
Advanced knowledge of IT quality assurance concepts, in particular as they relate to one of the organizations within the Charter IT domain.
Understanding of architecture and solution architecture, and how these fit into IT delivery models.
Ability to present and interface with senior executives, including (but not limited to) VP, GVP, and SVP levels.
Ability to understand and interact with organizations from multiple disciplines, including (but not limited to) infrastructure, analytics, and application development/operations.
Ability to present data in a clear and insightful manner, and to establish data which is meaningful for the audience.
Ability to read, write and speak the English language to communicate with employees, customers, suppliers, in person, on the phone, and by written communications in a clear, straight-forward, and professional manner
Ability to use personal computer and software applications
Ability to work in a team environment
Advanced Knowledge in engineering operations.
Advanced knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
Advanced knowledge of technology designing software, such as Visio
Ability to perform duties in a very fast pace environment and ability to learn new technology quickly
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Experience
10+ years of management experience
5+ years of director-level management experience
5+ years of technology management experience
5+ years in metric-oriented reporting and/or business intelligence delivery
3+ years of experience managing infrastructure or infrastructure supply chain services
3+ years of experience managing application development, business intelligence, or enterprise data management organizations.
2+ years of experience managing cloud service and/or strategy
2+ years of experience in IT solution or enterprise architecture
