BASIC PURPOSE: The role of the Infrastructure Architect/Project Manager is to plan, execute, review and finalize complex technical projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Infrastructure Project Manager will work with Business and Technical representatives to define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct and manage internal IT project development from beginning to end.
  • Working with a Business Project Manager, extract and manage IT tasks and responsibilities from the larger business plan, assuring completion to overall project standards and timelines.
  • Define project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Develop or contribute to full-scale project plans and associated communications documents.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Work with Business and Technical representatives to estimate the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Set and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Plan and schedule project timelines and milestones using appropriate tools.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Determine the frequency and content of status reports from the project team, analyze results, and troubleshoot problem areas.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises, and devise contingency plans.
  • Define project success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Conduct project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Education:
    • HS Diploma or equivalent required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, MIS, or Business Administration or equivalent work experience
    • PMP certification preferred
  • Experience:
  • 7+ years in the Information Technology field, in an Infrastructure support, analyst or management role
  • 5+ years work experience as project manager or project coordinator

 

SKILLS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Skills:
  • Hard skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, familiarity with project management software, such as Microsoft Project, experience in developing cases, and adept at conducting research into project related issues and products
  • Soft Skills: Demonstrated leadership and personnel management skills, ability to perform general mathematical calculations for the purpose of creating needs assessments and budgets, strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to present in a user-friendly language, self motivated and directed, keen attention to detail, analytical and problem solving skills, team player, and strong customer service orientation.

 

 

  • Typical Physical Demands:
    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping.
    • Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds.
      • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator.
      • Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
      • Occasional evening/weekend work to meet deadlines.
