The Orchard Hotel and the Orchard Garden Hotel located in the heart of Union Square in San Francisco, California are currently seeking qualified experienced candidates for Part-time Server position in our Daffodil Restaurant & Bar. Candidates would have the required job skills, demonstrated customer service skills, and a desire to be part of a team that thrives on exceeding expectations in hospitality and environmental responsibility. Hours of work are from 4:30pm - 9:30 pm, 4-5 days a week.

Qualified candidates will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Dining Room Customer Service

Menu/Wine Knowledge

Food/Beverage Sales

Dining Room Quality Control & Setup/Take down

Server Stations

Menu Station

Squirrel Computer System

 

Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Taking guests orders for food/drink.  Answering guests questions about menus and promotions
  • Maintain accurate and extensive knowledge of all menus
  • Continually upselling guest orders by offering additional courses, drinks or upgrades to more premium drinks.
  • Taking reservations by phone.  Answering walk up guest questions at host podium and seating arriving guests
  • Handling guest transactions through cash or credit card and gift .
  • Bussing all dirty tables accordingly and reset table for turnover.
  • Ensure promotions and coupons are charged and discounted correctly and accounted for in your cashout.
  • Following Opening Procedures.  Ensuring dining room is set up completely and neatly above and beyond our business standards. Polish silverware, glasses and plates.  Set up taper candles.  Fold napkins.
  • Check Reservations and call to confirm.  Set up tables for any large parties.
  • Inspect dining room cleanliness of floors, chairs, banquets, walls, mirrors, pepper shakers, plates, silverware, and linens.
  • Flower/table ornament arrangements:  ensure item is watered, vase is clean and dead plants are removed.  Purchase more flowers if necessary.
  • Back up the bartender at bar/lounge, room service when busy or on a break.
  • Follow Server Closing Procedures.  Set up dining hall completely for following food service shift.  Make sure all tables are wiped down and any major spills attended to.  Put away all silverware and glasses in proper station and clean stations completely.
  • Follow company Cash Handling Procedure when making your deposits.  Deliver deposit, Cash out tickets, and all receipts in correct envelopes to the bartender for closing.
  • Any other duties assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • One Year Restaurant Server Experience or Two Years Customer Service Experience and Skill Set Equivalent
  • Knowledge of current laws regarding serving, selling and obtaining alcohol.
  • Dining, Foods, Alcohol, Formal Service
  • Knowledge of Formal Dining Manners and Procedures
  • Extensive Knowledge of Wine and Food
  • Knowledge of organic foods and sustainable agriculture
  • Verbal and written skills
  • Basic math skills
