The On-Call Banquet Bartender is responsible for following standards and procedures to provide timely, accurate, and friendly service by:
- Ensuring the opening checklist is completed and that the banquet bar is prepared for opening
- Assuring staff is aware of beverage options
- Monitoring and observing guests’ dining experience, ensuring guests are satisfied with the beverage service
- Responding promptly and courteously to any requests
- Being available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth operation of the banquet function
- Taking beverage orders from guests and servers
- Preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the Hotel’s standard drink recipes
- Presenting drink menus, making recommendations and answering questions regarding beverages
- Up selling drink items as directed by management
- Recording drink orders accurately and immediately into the Point of Sale system
- Accepting guest payment, processing credit card charges and making change (if applicable)
- Washing and sterilizing glassware and bar tools/utensils
- Preparing garnishes for all drinks and ensuring freshness, labeling and properly rotating of product.
- Maintaining bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
- Maintaining cleanliness in all areas of the banquet bar
- Reporting all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to Banquets management
- Ensuring the bar is ready for the next shift including completing all necessary cleaning duties, ensuring the bar is up to health code in all respects and checking out with a manger before leaving
- Assisting the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
- Completing all side-work duties
- Dropping cash in the end shift drop box
Working as a team member to maintain pleasant work environment:
- Maintaining positive inter-departmental relationships with the hotel and with outside vendors
- Following the Carlson Attendance Policy
- Reporting to work dressed according to Carlson Grooming Standards
- Giving personal attention, taking personal responsibility and using teamwork when providing guest service
- Listening, apologizing with empathy, finding a solution and following through when resolving guest problems
- Providing Yes I Can! genuine hospitality and teamwork on an ongoing basis
- Assuming the responsibility to notice when the guest is not satisfied and using good judgment as to when it is appropriate to use the 100% Guest Satisfaction
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum two years bartending experience, preferably in a hotel or upscale environment
- High school diploma required
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Candidate must have exceptional people skills with the ability to build trusting relationships
- Organizational, time management skills and the ability to network within the business arena, a must have
- Knowledge of local, state and federal liquor laws and regulations
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure
- Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite and have worked with a Point of Sale system
- Long hours are sometimes required, ability to work flexible schedule
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift 25 pounds on a regular basis and push or pull up to 75 pounds
- Good manual dexterity for the use of common office equipment
