Paramedic

PARAMEDIC Department: Dismal River Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc Schedule: Part-time (up to 32 hours per week) Shift: Rotating Shifts (days/ nights/ weekdays/ weekends) Salary: Dependent upon qualifications and experience Job Duties: Provide excellent and quality service for all join responsibilities. Administers life support care and transportation to patients in pre-hospital situations as authorized and directed by a physician. Performs a variety of skills related to acute and non -acute illness and/or injury in transporting to hospitals. Responds to medical emergencies as dispatched by 911 and protects life and administers cardiac and trauma support when needed. Analyzes gathered information and uses reason to deal with emotional topics and maintains confidentiality. Minimum Qualifications Required: Education: High School graduate or equivalent required. Associate Degree or equivalent from a two year collage or technical program in paramedic studies preferred. Experience: One year paramedic experience preferred Licensure: Certification and/or registration: Certification by State of Virginia as Paramedic. Maintains National Registered Paramedic Status (preferred). AHA-BLS-HCP, EVOC and ACLS required. PALS, Hazmat Awareness, NRP and PHTLS or BTLS required within one year of hire date. Other Minimum Qualifications: Must maintain continuing educational hours to meet re- certification status as required by State and National standards.
