Position Summary:

Provide technological vision/thought leadership needed to assure the timely, innovative and cost-effective use of technology to achieve the company’s strategic priorities. Collaborate periodically with business/technology leaders to develop an updated technology strategy that enables Kroger’s continued transformation in the areas of digital/e-commerce, store operations and supply chain. Oversee creation/leadership of the architecture community to ensure architectural principles are appropriately applied and technology is in place to optimize short-term/long-term strategic priorities. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Essential Job Functions:

• Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
• Provide company-wide leadership in the use of information technology (IT) by forming strategic partnerships with Kroger Technology/business management to maximize outcomes, enhance responsiveness to customer needs and improve operational quality/efficiency
• Assure technology selection/management aligns with the enterprise’s overall vision, mission, principles and values
• Champion/facilitate the widespread adoption of innovations
• Lead Kroger’s architecture community/vendors in developing/adopting principles, policies and standards that accelerate solutions and platform delivery
• Partner with business leaders to develop/ensure business/technology roadmaps align with initiatives to promote a competitive advantage; communicate strategies within Kroger Technology
• Lead, develop and motivate a staff capable of resolving business/technical issues; orient their efforts toward high-value results that support company business strategies/priorities; hold them accountable for results
• Participate in industry interest groups to update industry knowledge
• Recruit, motivate and develop a superior/diverse staff; build employee skill sets based upon technical/business requirements
• Travel to participate in industry interest groups

Minimum Position Qualifications/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science or a related field
• 10 years of progressive experience in an IT or business environment, including experience strategically using technology to enable a business strategy
• Demonstrated success as a senior IT leader/business manager
• Retail innovation/technology experience (e.g., data management, networking, current development languages, agile methodology, DevOps, cloud computing, cyber security, robotics and AI/ML)
• Strong business acumen to drive business solutions
• Ability to envision/contribute to strategic plans and create buy in
• Ability to facilitate/lead change at all organizational levels and drive continuous improvement
• Strong written/oral communication and presentation/public speaking skills
• Strong problem-solving/decision-making skills

Desired Previous Job Experience/Education:

• Master of Science or PHD in computer science, MBA degree or other evidence of substantial industry knowledge
• Vice President, Information Systems and Services
• Experience in a service-oriented, high transaction, complex, multi-location environment
• Experience driving substantial technology process changes in a large organization
• Retail/consumer industry experience
