Girl Scouts of the USA National Office will be opening a brand new, ground floor, retail store in Fall 2017!

We are seeking to hire 2 Junior Sales Leads for the New York City Retail Shop of Girl Scouts of the USA National Office. This role is responsible for driving sales to meet the annual sales goal and for providing excellent customer service to the external and internal customers. The external customers include but are not limited to Council membership for the tristate area, visitors to the national office and internal customers. You Are:

You Will:
  • Assist in operations and merchandising of the National Office retail store on an as needed basis.
  • Ensure that registers are properly opened and closed with access to the safe.
  • Ensure store is opened on time and secured at night following open and close procedures.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and have ability to assist in training seasonal staff on ideal customer service skills.
  • Provide some shop oversight and guidance to the team of sales associates with regard to day to day functions in order to improve overall efficiency.
  • Assist in the operational functions of the store including operating point of sale, daily sales reporting, and general maintenance of the store.
  • Work with the Shop Management team and building properties to ensure day to day functions of the shop are adhered, reporting any issues to these teams as needed.
  • Assist in the overall store merchandise execution to create Girl Scout brand awareness, impact the product strategy for the fiscal year and drive sales through thoughtful and effective displays.
  • Be involved in stock control and order management.
  • Assist in the execution of several shop seasonal events to drive additional traffic and sales to the HQ shop.

You Need:
  • At least 1-2 years of retail Junior Sales Lead experience.
  • Knowledge about the Girl Scouts.
  • Appropriate computer skills including basic office suite programs – Word, Excel and Retail Point of Sales Systems experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Solid decision making and problem solving skills; must exercise good judgement
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Working Hours and Environment:

  • This is a part-time position with a 21 hour work week on average.
  • The shifts scheduled will fluctuate in regards to times of day and days of week.
  • The store is open daily, which requires early morning and evening flexibility as well as occasional availability for events and overtime as needed. (Store hours subject to change.)
  • As a customer facing part of the organization, the position requires wearing Girl Scout adult uniform components that will be provided upon hire.
  • This environment is a retail store and requires ability to stand for periods of time, stock shelves and lift up to 25 pounds.
