Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent

Previous security or law enforcement experience required

Completion of DCJS Security Officer Training or ability to obtain with 6 months of hire

Excellent communication skills required in order to be an effective team member. Must be able to communicate via radio, telephone, overhead page, e-mail, as well as in-person.

Excellent customer service skills. Provide professional customer service to employees, patients, visitors, EMS, law enforcement, etc.

Good computer skills necessary (must be able to operate video surveillance system, company e-mail, complete on-line trainings, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Assist with combative patients or visitors to protect patients, employees and the facility

Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards

Utilize rapid and effective judgment in responding to emergency situations

Prepare safe landing zone for helicopter patient transport

Make building and parking lot rounds, utilizing a Watchman's clock

Warn violators of policy infractions, such as loitering, tobacco use, carrying forbidden articles, etc.

Ability to adjust thermostats, replace light bulbs and perform light maintenance duties

Ability to operate the fire alarm system and know how to operate the sprinkler system

Maintain responsibility for all facility keys

Display good judgment, dependability and reliability. Complete assignments in a timely manner.

Maintain high standard of confidentiality and follow HIPAA regulations

During inclement weather, clear sidewalks and walkways as needed to prevent falls

Ability to operate two-way radios

Hold a valid driver license

Ability to fill out a daily log in a manner that is legible

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

Lift unassisted 50 lb. and carry 20 ft.

See, hear, speak and write clearly and effectively

Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling

Climb and work at elevated levels, including ladders

Ability to read a ruler and relay the measurements to another person

Ability to work in 0 degree weather outside to repair equipment and remove snow

Ability to drive vehicle

Ability to work in confined spaces

Ability to properly use various types of tools
