Genesee Lake School is looking for a Food Services Supervisor to join our team. This is a full-time 40 hour per week position. This individual will be responsible managing the Food Services department, including our Cooks and Kitchen Assistants, as well as in charge of planning and preparing delicious meals for the students we serve and our employees.

Responsibilities
  • Supervises, monitors, and maintains the Food Services Department including training and support of staff, meal planning, preparation, and food safety. Fills in as cook, assistant, etc as needed.
  • Prepares a monthly menu, taking into consideration nutrition, budget, quality, availability, preference, and dietary needs of the students, as well as meeting the standards of the Agency and State Board of Health.
  • Assists with planning and preparing food for special events (ex-Holiday Buffett).
  • Assures that all menu items are available and problem solves to substitute items as needed
  • Monitors inventory, manages department budget, approves purchase orders and expenditures.
  • Supervises the cleanliness of all kitchen and dining areas.
  • Collaborates with Vocational Services to coordinate work opportunities for students in the program. Able to effectively communicate and demonstrate expectations to Vocational team and students.
  • Meets with Health Services Director regularly to review dietary needs of each student, provides feedback related to dietary changes and individual meal plans, and makes dietary adjustments as appropriate.
  • Meets with the Farm Manager for an annual review of product from the farm for the following year, using data compiled and maintained from current year. Coordinates farm produce delivery schedule and communicates daily with the farm of available produce.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • High School Diploma required. Sanisafe Certification required.
  • A minimum of two years experience in food preparation in a high-volume commercial setting.
  • Demonstrated skill in preparing a variety of foods in proportion to the volume of individuals in attendance required.
  • Two years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated skill in organization, supervision, menu planning, and ordering of food and supplies required.
  • Ability to be flexible regarding scheduling and able to work mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position, including: occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds, bending, twisting, reaching, lifting, standing, and sitting periods of up to two hours.
  • Able to use strong communication, good judgment, make quick decisions, and use strong problem-solving skills. Must be able to multitask and be flexible for changes in priorities.
