The goal of the Design ADM is to train and develop designers, and ensure that customers have a positive shopping experience by receiving exceptional customer service through design services and product information.

  • Demonstrate the ability to drive and teach the company philosophy around the basic P's of retail. The basic P's of retail include but are not limited to: People Position Product Presentation Price Promotion Purchasing
  • Provide direction to all product sales specialists and design consultants to ensure a highly attentive and accurate level of customer service.
  • Complete all product specialist certification courses.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of merchandise and installation.
  • Ensure the overall merchandising, pricing, organization and cleanliness of the department.
  • Communicate standard operating procedure(s) direction and changes to all associates in a timely manner.
  • Direct and assist the processing of merchandise to the showroom floor.
  • Greet every customer in a helpful and courteous manner.
  • Integrate findings and knowledge of interior design to formulate a plan and sell the appropriate products to complete the plan.
  • Process customers at checkout using the point of sale (POS) system.
  • Process customer refunds and exchanges according to established guidelines.
  • Present 'how-to' classes to customers.
  • Follow established cash, check and charge card acceptance procedures.
  • Answer the telephone according to accepted guidelines.
  • Stock and tag merchandise displays as required.
  • Create price tags and merchandise signs.
  • Ensure proper follow up from design consultants with customer inquiries related to design consultations
  • Meet with customers to determine preferences, purpose, function, types of materials and budget when planning interior and exterior environments.
  • Meets performance goals that are established by the General Manager
  • Design Leads may be solicited for feedback related to market trends
  • Be able to properly illustrate and translate vision of design to customer
Job Requirements

Minimum Position Qualifications
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Interior Design preferred.
  • Three (3) years of interior design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.
  • Prior retail sales experience.
  • Knowledge of hard surface flooring is a plus.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills (oral and written).
  • Proficient in basic mathematical skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass pre-employment background check.
