The Grooming Team operates snow cats to produce continuous smooth and groomed surface and proper patterns for the ski area.  Knowledgeable about the safety, CAT operating guidelines, and mountain layout, Grooming Operators follow grooming patterns using multiple types of snow cats and perform specific skills for trails, lift ramps, and mazes.  The Grooming Team is responsible for nightly slope preparation and hauling duties.

AS AN ENTRY-LEVEL GROOMER YOU WILL:

  • Learn to operate grooming equipment (snow cat) for a designated period of time to produce proper groomed patterns of snow in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Develop basic blading/tilling skills.
  • Work together with other departments to complete nightly hauling duties.
  • Once designated training hours are complete, operate all basic equipment at a fully competent level.

 

AS AN INTERMEDIATE-LEVEL GROOMER YOU WILL:

  • Perform as a skilled groomer operator, responsible for performing more complex tasks involved in trail maintenance, grooming and snow cat operation. 
  • Be capable of operating all types of snow cats while using blade and dozing skills to develop the slope of man-made snow.
  • Assists in the training and development of entry-level operators; helps enforce safety guidelines.

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record – Required
  • Must be 18 years or older – Required
  • Previous heavy equipment or machinery experience – Preferred
  • Must be willing to work late evenings, holidays and weekends – Required
  • Independent contributor with the ability to work well in a team; demonstrates responsibility for self and others in timeliness and task completion.
  • Ability to perform in a variable, multi-faceted environment with the ability to multi-task while remaining calm in potentially stressful situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form (in English), including speaking clearly on the Mountain Radio.
  • Physical strength and ability to meet physical demands of the position: climbing in and out of a snow cat; sit for long periods of time while operating a snow cat; lift up to 50lbs.
