Summary of Job: You will be striving for quality, safety, and efficiency to ensure an exceptional experience for our guests.  Snowmakers will assist with day-to-day operations in the safe production of a suitable snow surface and will work as a team member while leading other snowmakers. As an intermediate snowmaker, you will be able to perform and learn how to teach proper snow quality checks, snow gun adjustments, assembly and operation of all types of snow guns, and equipment placement on trails.  In this job you will be working long hours, overnights and exposed to the elements.  This important role is critical to getting the ski season up and running. Intermediate snowmakers are required to have at least one year of snowmaking experience at a VRI ski resort or verifiable multiyear experience at other resorts.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Know and understand proper snowmaking logistics including prime snowmaking conditions
  • Responsible for assisting the crew leader in preparation, operation and breakdown of snowmaking guns and hoses
  • Adheres to all snowmaking policies, safety guidelines and best practice procedures at all times.
  • Conduct visual inspections and routine maintenance of snow guns and hoses
  • Set up and break down of snowmaking equipment
  • Safe and efficient operation of trucks, snowmobiles and a variety of other snowmaking equipment.
  • Support the snowmaking team in ensuring the highest quality of manmade snow for Wilmot Mountain.
  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Works as a team with other departments to ensure the production of a high quality product
  • Troubleshoot any issues that may arise throughout the shift, (i.e. when pumps or compressors go down)
  • Will be required to work outside in all weather conditions
  • Will be required to work weekends and holidays
  • Work as part of a team to complete tasks
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age – Required
  • Must have valid Driver’s License – Required
  • Must have at least 1 year VRI snowmaking or 2+ years at other resort - Required
  • Must be willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends – Required
  • Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions for up to 12 hours – Required
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and carry up to 50lbs - Required
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form including communicating on the mountain radio. - Require
  • High School graduation or equivalent – Preferred
  • Supervisory Experience- crew leader or other similar - Preferred
  • Welding, construction, heavy equipment operation experience - Preferred
  • Wisconsin Snowmobile Certificate - Preferred
  • Mechanical and hydraulic knowledge – Preferred
  • Outdoor/FirstAid/CPR Certificate -Preferred
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well with others.
  • Professionalism and strong guest service skills, attention to detail and timeliness.
  • Ability to shovel and rake snow surfaces
