Description

The Associate Data Scientist will assist in the development of data science capabilities within Schwan’s Company by working with leaders of Information Systems and other departments to define and build data science platforms and projects. Not only will this role involve the execution of specific analytics tasks, but it will also be instrumental in building the nascent Data Science function at Schwan’s.


  • Design, implement, and evaluate models to analyze structured and unstructured business data using various techniques, including but not limited to linear regression, logistic regression, Monte Carlo simulation, clustering, classification, Bayesian methods, machine learning, and stochastic models.
  • Understand business research challenges, translate them into data mining problems, collect and clean appropriate data, and use rigorous data science to extract insights.
  • Develop understanding of various sources of data, including SAP BW, SAP HANA, SQL Server, IoT data, and external sources.
  • Flexibly support the team in solving various data and statistics problems
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical collaborators
  • Assist company leaders in broader efforts to build data science capabilities, including the implementation of data and analytics technology and the establishment of analytics functions throughout the company
  • Develop a detailed understanding of company business challenges and needs
  • Work with partner firms providing data science services to learn and adopt their methods, bringing the best thinking to the enterprise
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Math, Statistics, or Industrial Engineering

Years of Related Experience: 0 - 3 years

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Data extraction and processing skills
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Scala or other open-source data analysis languages
  • Understanding of machine learning
  • Working knowledge of natural language processing
  • Strong communication skills, especially the ability to build persuasive presentations based on data
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in team settings
