The Shift Leader is responsible for ensuring proper shift flow without the direct interaction of a manager. It is the job of the Shift Leader to be the second in command after management and to be considered a back-up manager in case of emergency. The Shift Leader supervises the shift from start to finish, ensuring that the team is upholding Roti’s high level of customer service and high standards of food quality. The Shift Leader has a solid understanding of the staff’s strengths and weaknesses and is capable of establishing solid working relationships with the teammates. The Shift Leader is the leader of the staff and acts as the connection between the co-workers and management.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Proper usage of deployment sheets
  • Manages labor cost by effectively adjusting staffing needs due to pace of business
  • Understands scheduling needs and Aces in Places
  • All employees are expected to work with a sense of urgency. The Shift Leader establishes this expectation with the staff and always leads by example.
  • Proper usage of checklists and walk-through
  • Can confidently and assertively engage co-workers by delegating tasks
  • Follows up with employees to ensure proper execution
  • Can open and close the restaurant
  • Sets a great example for FOH and BOH employees to follow
  • Maintains standards and systems
  • Hands-on assistance in training and development of new and existing employees

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Certified on every station
  • Must be confident and assertive in order to effectively demonstrate leadership skills and communicate responsibilities to co-workers
  • Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational, administrative, and leadership skills
  • Passionate about the company so that work is fun and the team is inspired.
  • Strong knowledge of menu, recipes, and ingredients 
  • Can anticipate and solve problems without the direct supervision of management
  • Dedicated to driving the business and ensuring the growth of Roti as a company
  • Must have a positive attitude and ethics which support Roti’s values and culture.

Education and/or Experience:

Requires a High School Education or greater and a minimum of one year related experience.
