Job Summary:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician, Telepharmacy is responsible for providing friendly, efficient Pharmacy care to all customers. Under the direction of the Pharmacist, this position assists in operation of the Pharmacy and assists the Pharmacy team in daily operation of the Pharmacy department. Additionally, the position serves customers well and assists the Pharmacist with solving unmet customer needs in the Pharmacy and health and Beauty Care (HBC) area.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Ensures customer care and selling are #1 priority
  • Demonstrates the highest level of confidentiality standards in handling of customer relations, medical and prescription records and Health Insurance Prortability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) compliance
  • Demonstrates great phone etiquette and answers phone in a timely manner
  • Operates Pharmacy cash register and Electronic Signature Capture system according to policy and procedures in order to maintain accuate records of customer transactions
  • Handles patient concerns in a professional manner
  • Maintains a clean, neat and orderly work area in order to maximize efficiency of the department, minimize errors and promote excellent service
  • Exhibits accuracy in all stages of the filling process (CQI program)
  • Demonstrates accuracy entering prescription and insurance information into the computer and reduces audit risk by utilizing proper prescription procedures such as Dispense as Written (DAW), days supply and take as directed sigs (directions)
  • Assists with filling and facing functions in the immediate area of the Pharmacy department as directed by the Pharmacy Manager/Pharmacist
  • Understands and utilizes the Inventory Management system in order to maintain proper inventory levels and reduce partial filled prescriptions, processes received orders, wholesaler returns and expired returns and navigates and utilizes Cardinal.com functions
  • Operates the Pharmacy computer system including entering and extracting information for maximum efficiency of the department and accurate records and reports
  • Abides by all State, Federal and Company Pharmacy rules and regulations
  • Completes all Sears Holdings Corporation (SHC) required training programs for Pharmacy Customer Service Associate, including HIPPA training
  • Receive telephone orders for prescriptions where applicable by law
  • Process prescriptions sent electronically from patients and doctors through the pharmacy software system


Job Duties/Responsibilities(Contd):
  • Fill prescriptions utilizing pharmacy management software in conjunction with telepharmacy software
  • Utilize barcode scanners to confirm NDC match on prescription label and stock bottles
  • Count or measure the prescribed quantity of product ordered by physician and approved by pharmacist
  • Place the label partially on the prescription bottle, such that a full image of the label can be procured
  • Complete opening checklist before unlocking door at the beginning of business day to include verifying functionality of audio/visual link with pharmacist through the telepharmacy software
  • Use telepharmacy software to take images and submit prescriptions to the pharmacist for verification after taking required images
  • Bag approved prescriptions and prepare for sale via patient caregiver pick-up, delivery, mail-order
  • Process sale of prescriptions using (POS), properly notifying the patient of legal requirment to speak with Pharmacist, ensure that all patients that require counseling are counseled by a pharmacist via TelePharm
  • Assist patient using TelePharm patient tablet software to adequately receive couseling
  • Daily clean and sanitize counters, couting trays, vacuum floors, and remove trash
  • Generate daily reports as necessary
  • Receive and file daily inventory reports as necessary
  • Complete closing checklist before locking pharmacy at the end of the business day
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Pharmacy Manager
  • Follow all state and federal laws pertaining to Telepharmacy requirements
Job Requirements:
  • Good reading, writing and basic math skills

  • Pharmacy technician experience and/or formal training
