Job Title: Lead Driver

Department: Central Kitchen

Reports To: General Manager and Transportation supervisor

Summary

· Must pass the interview process with the CK GM or the Fleet Manager and is qualified to drive in accordance with Central Kitchen Driver Objectives. Drives gasoline or diesel powered CDL straight trucks and or tractor trailer combination to transport and deliver products or materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form by performing the following duties.

Requirements;
Class A Driver's License
Updated DOT Medical
Clean Driving Record
Must be able to lift 70 lbs

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

§ Ensure that Safety is the #1 focus within the operation, truck safety and Cart safe handling

§ Inspects truck for defects before and after trips and submits report indicating truck condition.

§ Follows the cart loading policy to ensure that it’s being done safety

§ Reports any accidents or damage to the truck

§ Ensures all documentation is complete restaurant invoices and Equipment check lists.

§ Makes efforts to insure all priorities on the loading document are being worked on to insure a timely shipment of goods.

§ Has a professional manner, must be in a clean presentable uniform consistent with our brand

§ Follows all company policies & procedures

§ Ensures he has help in loading the carts a prescribed in GFR policies.

§ Inspects returning trucks to insure they are clean and safe for the next day’s deliveries.

§ Ensure that all electronic tracking systems are used daily in accordance with GFR policies.
    • Ryde Smart tracking and guidance system.
    • Lead driver or GM will monitor and maintain a tracking of all Rydesmart applicable reports.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

· Will be responsible to manage the drivers schedule relating to scheduled in times

· Will be responsible to maintain communication with Ryder on fleet issues and needs.

· Will manage any distribution issues that come up on a day to day basis regarding delivery concerns or equipment issues.

· Will insure any HOT SHOTS for late requests or priorities are scheduled for delivery.

· Will manage the maintenance employee assigned for cleaning of the back dock area, carts, plastics and trash location.

Qualifications

· To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. to drive for GFR

· Certified on Cart Safety Policy

· Certified on Pre/Post Truck Inspection

· Commitment to working as a team member consistent with the Brand Image




Education and/or Experience

· A current and clean CDL class A would be required.

· Three months related driving experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

· Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

· Ability to write simple correspondence.

· Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

· Bi-lingual would be a plus

Mathematical Skills

· Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

· Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Reasonability

· Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions.

· Ability to deal with problems involving a equipment issues or delivery concerns to the customer

Computer Skills

· Mustbe able to understand and perform simple tasks related to using the Rydesmart tracking hardware installed in the trucks.

Physical Demands

· While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

· The employee is frequently required to stand; walk and talk or hear.

· The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 100 pounds.

· The employee will be required to push wheeled carts with help from another employee that could weigh up to 600 lbs fully loaded.

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

· The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

· While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.

· The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

· The employee is occasionally exposed to refrigerated conditions within the building while loading the carts for delivery.
