Description

Job Title: Material Handler

Department: Distribution

Reports To: Distribution Manager

Summary Loads, unloads, receives, stores, issues and moves materials and product within or near warehouse. Maintains inventory accuracy by using correct procedures, proper storage, and accurate pulling of product for restaurants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Reads work order or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials, products or containers to be moved.

Opens containers / boxes.

Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand and or fork lift.

Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit.

Moves materials from storage or work sites to designated area.

Secures lifting attachments to materials and moves load to destination or uses forklift to move load to destination.

Counts, weighs, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheet.

Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on cases or other containers.

Loads truck for Driver.

Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together.

Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators.

Operates forklift to assist in loading or moving materials and products.

In order to perform the essential functions of the positions at Souplantation and Sweet Tomatoes restaurants, employees must be able to walk & stand consistently for up t o 8 hours, and lift & carry items weighing up to 30lbs for a minimum of 3 hours each day. Reach, bend, push & pull items for up to 2 hours each day and must be able to use fingers, hands, arms and shoulders repetitively for up to 6 hours each day.
