Duties and responsibilities:
Comprehensive plant/landscape maintenance which includes but is not limited to: Care for established lawns mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, and trimming and edging flower beds, walks, and walls. Mix, spray, spread fertilizers, herbicides, other seasonal treatments onto grass, shrubs, and trees, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders. Plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs, and apply mulch protection. Attach supports/stakes to plants and trees as needed. Prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. Rake, mulch, and compost leaves. Trim and pick flowers, and clean flower beds.
Follow planned landscaping designs to lay sod, plant grass, flowers and foliage.
Exterior facility maintenance to include, but not limited to: Maintain irrigation systems (winterizing and starting in spring); upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, and other grounds features.
Maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, and benches, using hand and power tools.
Operate powered equipment such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chain-saws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws.
Recommend purchase of and suggest suitable locations for trees and shrubs.
Other duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
Ability to recommend a treatment plan for plants, trees and lawns based on seasonal information
Knowledge of the various types of plants and trees and their characteristic, nutritional and climatic requirements.
Knowledge of foliage most suited for specific types of soil.
Knowledge of the proper type of machinery including mowers, edger, blower, and hand tools.
Good communication skills.
Ability to maintain multiple properties - commercial and residential.
Full time availability Monday through Friday, primarily day shift, some occasional overtime or weekend work.
Current driver's license and good driving record
