GENERAL SUMMARY: The IM Planner will partner with the buying team to integrate strategic business plans into annual merchandise financial plans by department and clas using iPlan, excel, or other systems. This position will develop and manage liability Melt ladders to recommend markdown and other actions. With the buyers, the manager will develop assortment plans in the new assortment planning tool and recommend items to continue, drop and replace. The manager will develop item plans in the new item planning tool with the buyer's input. The manager will recommend actions at department, class and item levels to improve sales, margin and liquidation of risk inventories. Due to the complexity of the business the recommended tenure for this position is 18 months. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: This position will have no direct reports. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * Partners with Buyers to develop strategic merchandise business plans * Develops annual merchandise financial plans down to line/category group level * Collaborates with Buyers to incorporate relevant LY correctable, trend, marketing, and events into plans * Enables assortment planning by developing SKU affordability buying guidelines of breadth and depth by volume groups * Collaborates and makes recommendations through qualitative analysis on line/category group and item levels * Manages the item counts with the Buyers to establish depth on key items and breadth that fit space constraints * Supports item rationalization with item performance information * Develops item plans on all the items within the managed assortment * Collaborates with the Buyers to ensure purchases fit within receipt and OTB plans * Partners with Buyers on daily, weekly and monthly business forecasts * Forecasts sales, margin, markdowns, receipts, and inventories at line/category groups * Partners with BFMs on monthly forecast locks, markdown forecasts, information and analysis * Manages the OTB plans and presents forecasts with action plans at weekly business reviews and monthly OTB meetings * Provides opportunity/risk assessment, analysis and what if scenarios to enable decisions and action plans * Utilizes merchandise financial planning, assortment planning and item planning tools to plan and forecast * Partners with Buyers and SIAs to identify and address liability products for markdowns (item plans) * Collaborates with Buyers on best strategies to address liabilities & liquidate in a timely manner * Create markdown plans and/or FPCs in SAS Web user interface * Forecasts sales, margin, markdowns, receipts, and inventories in item plans * Collaborates with SIAs and IA's to ensure in stock goals are met * Partners with Buyers and SIAs/IAs to create seasonal post mortem reports * Supports the Director of Planning & Inventory Management by executing assigned projects or tasks * At the Director's request, supports development of SIAs by exposing them to planning methods and tools, delegating and coaching

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS * Planning & Forecasting strategies, methods and systems knowledge * Communication and collaboration * Negotiation and conflict resolution * Analytical and detail oriented * Excel Education/Training * Bachelor's Degree preferred Experience * 5-10 years retail experience with a mix of allocation, replenishment and planning * Buying experience a plus * Allocation and replenishment for retail chain * At least 3 years retail merchandise planning and forecasting
