Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Manufacturing Supervisor will manage directly and through assistance on non management area leads, the receiving, production and assembly of material in a professional manner consistent with the stated mission of APL Logistics cost objectives and customer requirements.

The primary focus will be on CTO, Returns, Packing areas and will also supervise one or more major areas of the warehouse based upon employee classification and/or operational department.

The position will work as a part of and in concert with the management team to provide direction, guidance and coaching to staff members within a positive work environment. Within the scope of this position's responsibilities, the incumbent will apply lean logistics and continuous improvement methodologies to achieve operational delivery business process enhancement objectives, increase productivity and efficiency through waste elimination while at the same time, meeting corporate values and objectives.


Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Acting as a front line operational liaison between APL Logistics and key customer representatives to ensure the highest level of quality service delivery is provided.
  • Plan, oversee, and produce production schedules in a cost effective manner.
  • Establish and maintain/improve standard performance levels.
  • Apply the APL Logistics Continuous Improvement (ACI) Model for operational efficiency to improve business processes, increase productivity and efficiency through waste elimination.
  • Identify and implement processes in order to ensure the facility meets or exceeds budgetary and customer requirements. Identify and implement cost saving initiatives that impact both the facility and the company as a whole.
  • Must ensure compliance of subordinates with written policies as set forth in the attendance program and employee handbook.
  • Ensures that timely performance feedback is given to employees on an ongoing basis with formal performance reviews conducted where applicable.
  • Promotes employee development through in-house training, goal setting and achievement feedback. Recognition of accomplishments should be prompt and ongoing.
  • Provides management with recommendations for promotions, wage increases and terminations.
  • Takes timely corrective disciplinary measures via progressive and well documented discipline program.
  • Apply the 5S lean methodology to create and sustain a safe, clean and orderly facility.
  • Ensure the facility is in constant compliance with all Federal and Provincial safety requirements in an effort to maintain an injury & accident free work environment.
  • Promotes and maintains an ongoing safety awareness program. Schedules and conducts safety meetings and ensures that all preventative safety measures required are in place and that the facility remains in compliance with all municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
  • Promotes ongoing training for subordinates to ensure they are in compliance with Company requirements.
  • Manages production schedule to accommodate customer configured orders.
  • Creates an efficient production environment ensuring safety and quality measures are being met and or surpassed.
  • Proactive communication to customer.
  • Ensure department is compliant with SOP's and guidelines.


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Some college preferred.
  • 3-5 years experience in Manufacturing/Production of consumer electronics.
  • 2-3 years in CTO/VAS environment of software/firmware upgrade and testing of consumer electronics
  • 1+ years in Inventory Control.
  • Preferred Spanish/English.
  • Plan, oversee, and produce production schedules in a cost effective manner.
  • Oracle, Agile & PKMS systems experience.

Additional Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Completed PC courses are highly desirable, specifically in the areas of pivot tables, macros, v-look ups and Excel.
