The purpose of this position is to complete duties associated with the barge cover process. Individuals in this position are responsible for the effective and efficient handling of barge covers, with minimal supervision. Interacts on a regular basis with customers, plant operators, supervisors or other personnel.
As a Barge Cover Handler, you will:
* Train and operate equipment associated with barges: including hoist systems, ropes and cables.
* Perform duties to complete removal of barge covers and upon completion of unloading, cover the barge. This includes: identification of potential hazards, equipment monitoring, manually pushing and pulling of barge covers, physically throwing chains, and communication with the panel operator.
* Perform housekeeping duties in respective work and break areas, as well as keeping barges clean: including sweeping, shoveling, and hosing down.
* Train to be knowledgeable in procedures for bobcat operator, lead person and leg operator.
* Work outdoors in a dusty environment, with exposure to varying temperatures and uneven/slippery work surfaces.
* Control traffic through department and ensure that all visitors follow safety rules.
* Troubleshoot problems as required.
No relocation assistance is provided.
Required:
* Right towork in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or avisa sponsored by a third-party employer.
* Cargillrequires that employees be a minimum of 18 years old
* Must have ahigh school diploma or equivalent.
* Must bewilling and able to work rotating 8 or 12 hour shifts, including nights,overtime, weekends, holidays, and additional hours beyond regularly scheduledshift to cover vacancies.
* Must be ableto ascend and descend stairs, ladders, etc., to work in elevated areas of theplant.
* Must be ableto bend, stoop and work in confined spaces
* Must be ableto read and write english
* Must beable to work around water.
* Must beable to bend, stoop, squat, twist, reach and work on irregular surfaces.
* Must bewilling and able to work in inclement conditions and extreme temperatures.
* Must beable to work in an outdoor, dusty environment.
* Must beable to frequently lift 10-25 pounds with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
* Must beable to wear respirator and required safety equipment.
* Must becomputer literate including being able to enter and retrieve data.
* Must havestrong written and verbal communication skills.
* Must havevery good time management skills.
* Must beable to prioritize tasks and possess follow-up skills.
* Must bewilling to accept accountability.
