About this job

PURPOSE:  Cleans interiors of latex and slurry tanks to remove emulsion and incrustations; conducts departmental housekeeping assignments; performs daily process adjustments. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Perform daily process adjustments to Latex, tackifier, coagulant and slurry tanks. Drains tanks, connects hose to water and sprays walls and bottom of tanks to flush residue through tank openings. Scrapes and scrubs walls to remove incrustations, scale, or deposits of latex and slurry.  Sweeps up debris. Removes chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees or pump and suction hoses. Adds specified chemicals to stainless steel tanks to maintain and replenish tank processing solutions. Handles approximately 20 – 400 to 600 lb. drums per shift using proper drum moving equipment. Reads and understands written instructions (i.e. BOPs, DHRs, component tickets, and adjustments logs). Able to make independent decisions about tanks within the parameters of tank management procedures. Cleans and refills latex reserves. Flexible work schedule – must be able to work weekends and odd hours if needed. Must be able to work well within a team environment. Must follow all GMP/BOP guidelines. Maintain clean and organized work area as outlined in the GMPs. EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/TRAINING/SKILL REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, including whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Must know how to take accurate measurements using a variety of measuring tools (test for knowledge will be given). Able to attend continuing education courses (pump maintenance, basic chemistry, etc.). PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands or arms (to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls).  The employee is occasionally required to stand; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds with the assistance of drum moving equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles.  The employee occasionally works in high places; in outside weather conditions and with toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is normally moderate.  The employee would occasionally be required to wear ear plugs as necessary. The Personal Protective Equipment required to perform this job safely includes safety glasses and steel-toed safety shoes.  The employee would occasionally be required to wear rubber gloves, face shield, and/or respirator when handling chemicals.
