Sr. Cost Accountant needed in Ft. Myers, FL! Job Type: Full Time/ Perm. Job Location: Lehigh Acres, FL GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Senior Cost Accountant position is responsible for serving as a team leader in the finance department and ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization; is responsible as well for the costing functions, including audit, compliance and taxes under various laws and regulations.   ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages all daily; weekly and monthly plant accounting, analysis and reporting and coordinate Month-End inventory costing and valuation, cycle counting, reserves and work order close processes. Provides effective analysis and understanding of COGS actual results, budget development and variance reporting to senior management by developing insightful reporting.Presents and assists Business Unit Leaders in understanding P/L divisional performance, cost drivers and cost forecasts. Leads financial portion of vertical reviews for designated business units, including review of month-end cost accounting journal entries and closing activities for inventory accounts. Provides maintenance and review of standard cost system, including bill of materials, product routings and standard unit costs.Maintains COGS functions including inventory transactions, gross margin analysis, and variances. Validates the cost of goods sold as part of the month-end-close. Assists in preparing capital approval forms, managing fixed assets by maintaining detailed fixed asset ledgers, roll forwards, depreciation/amortization schedules, tracking asset transfers and disposals, and asset tagging. Performs risk analysis and provides recommendations for internal control enhancements. Ability to work with manufacturing facilities to implement and monitor internal controls. Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal tax and reporting requirements. Maintains responsibility for routine compilation of parts manufacturing costs for payroll, inventory accountability, distribution of factory labor, verification of actual costs and computation of variances; Investigates cycle counting variances and resolve issues. Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Prepare cost estimates of new or special products for establishing selling prices and production forecasts. Coordinates physical inventory counts and cycle counts. Update standard costs in the bill of materials. Validates and monitors routers in the bills of materials. Reviews standard and actual costs for inaccuracies. Reconcile inventory at month-end. Accumulates and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles. Analyze actual manufacturing cost and prepare reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs. Analyze and report on periodic variances and their causes, focusing on spending variances. Understand and Maintain cost accounting system and information. Report on cost information for use in controlling expenditures. Develop and coordinate cycle count program and physical inventories as required.  Research count variances and resolve issues. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position will provide supervisory role for the accounting department and is responsible for their performance review.   PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds occasionally.   WORK ENVIRONMENT: Working conditions are normal for a corporate and home office environment.  The role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.    QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS: Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including generally accepted accounting principles. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations. Proficient understanding of written and verbal English Strong attention to details Computer skills (word, Excel, PP) EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting.
