Job DescriptionESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:- Performs general housekeeping and custodial duties in and around the facility and around his/her work areas. - Performs routine and journeyman level maintenance and preventative maintenance on PIT equipment and automatic conveyor systems. - Performs Maintenance Tech III Tasks on equipment including, but not limited to, PIT (Power Industry Truck) battery charger repair, motor repairs, belt tensioning, conveyor aligning, bearing replacements, operating/maintaining floor scrubbers, dock door seal replacements, dock leveler repair, office/bathroom repairs, detailed building esthetic repairs, bailer/compactor operations, and bail changes. Tasks may require accurate measurement/math skills (e.g.; measuring metal prior to cutting) or ability to read/interpret drawings or procedure manuals to ensure proper placement of parts.- Operates and understands conveyor operating WCS, WMS systems for multiple sortation system including un- jamming boxes and conveyable material and starting/stopping conveyor, as needed.- Performs mid-level electrical wiring and termination of circuits; troubleshoots AC or DC circuit, installs motor pump and drive assemblies. Tasks may require accurate measurement/math skills (e.g.; measuring wire for electrical run).- Performs preventative maintenance on large generators and compressor systems- Provides fish system repair and operations of fish watering and oxygen systems.- Maintains SAP parts inventory system to ensure inventory levels are accurate.- Works with outside contractors when they need to perform duties within the facility.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school diploma or general education degree (GED); required proficiency level typically achieved in 5+ years of building maintenance or related field. Technical Training certificate or other comparable certification strongly preferred.Candidate must have extensive (journeyman level) knowledge of mechanical and maintenance functions in a distribution or warehouse setting. Mid-level electrical and mechanical skills acquired through job experience and technical training is required. Requires ability to read, speak, write and understand English (i.e.; written documents such as safety rules, laws, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals). Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Technician must have the ability to use/read tape measure, read building drawings and assembly drawings for conveyor, parts and machines, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.TECHNICAL SKILLS - Requires knowledge of electrical multi-meter testing of live circuits and low voltage electrical testing.- Must have ability to identify differences between AC or DC circuits, install motor pump and drive assembly, relay replacement in panels, and fuse replacements.- Requires journeyman level electrical wiring and termination of circuits.- Must have journeyman knowledge and the ability to use small hand tools, drill press, welding/torch machines, press bearings, troubleshoot broken machinery, portable power tools, saw cutting tools, PIT repair lifts. - Must be able to identify broken machinery and make repairs. - Requires knowledge of SAP and a sound understanding of functions related to DC management.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certification required on all pieces of PIT equipment including boom and scissor lifts. Technical Training certificate in Maintenance Repair or other comparable certification strongly preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDSIncumbent is frequently required to stand, wall, sit and stoop. The incumbent may be required to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, kneel, crouch or crawl and communicate verbally with other DC staff. The incumbent may occasionally need to lift and/or move machinery or tools weighing up to 55 pounds. Occasionally ascends/descends ladder, boom lift or scissor lift used by staff to service equipment within the location. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and equipment and exposed to low to mid-level electrical not to exceed 480 volts 3 phase. The work environment can also be dusty. The noise level in the work environment may be loud and temperatures may be extreme (hot or cold). Incumbents may be exposed to hazardous materials, i.e. cleaning supplies, shampoos, battery acid, etc. If working in a Fish DC, the associate will be exposed to a damp and humid environment with frequent exposure to water and aquatic animals.
